Ascalon helm = knights gloves?

I know that you only need 1 piece of knight's set to get the dmg reduction, but is it true for the Ascalon set? I wanted the dmg reduction but I also wanted a +1 do tactics from the Ascalon helm, so I bought a plate armor with Ascalon helm - does that give the same dmg reduction as it would with a plate helm and knight's gloves?

if the piece of armor says "Reduces Damage" or "Damage Reduction" or whatever the knights/ascalon armor says.. then you will get the damage reduction effect. If it doesn't say that then you don't get that effect.
