Mission XP after Completing Story
Red Sonya
Something I've noticed is that missions I've already done don't give me any experience anymore. Since I like to help others sometimes complete missions I've already done, seems fair that I should get the XP 1000pts again after completing the story.
This would be something that would streamline the ability to get skills and also relieve the boredom of just going out in bland zones killing same ole mobs. At least helping others there's more satisfaction to my play time and gaining XP while helping them would help the overall relief of the boredom of the game and skill grinding.
Yeah I know some would probably play mission I over and over and over again just for the easy XP, but, what the heck after completing the story why continue to make people grind out skill points? Since their's such a push to move to PVP once again this would just streamline those that want to get to PVP with most of their skills unlocked and for those that don't it's not going to really affect anything that I can see that would hurt the economy or the game balance. The inevitable of gaining the skill points one needs is going to happen anyway, this would just streamline it moreso I think.

You have found the hole in your argument, Sonya, but also glossed over it. There is nothing to stop a fresh character, straight from post-sear to play mission 1 over and over again for exp. This makes taking on other quests and side missions irrelevant, when, after a few hours of grinding that mission, their character shoots from level 8 to level 20 before they've even stepped outside of Ascalon city.
As for those who have completed the PvE missions, why should it matter if they got the 1000 Exp? The first mission from UW and FoW give a whopping 5000 exp and take less time to complete, also the drops are better.
I'm sorry, I can't see a benefit at all to repeating missions & bonuses for easy XP, and I think it's just right as it is.

I think it'd be a nice reward to allow players to get the 1k xp from doing missions once they've completed ALL missions AND bonuses. That would give bonuses a better purpose.

After completeing the PVE story that is all that's really left, getting skill points. And A-Net is the very ones who said their game wouldn't be a "grind". But, grind it is just going out killing mobs after the mission story is over. Hell I get more XP killing my doppleganger over and over than I do from the mobs in any zone after the story is over and I've reached lvl 20.
Thing is I'm going to get my skill points no matter if I get XP or not from Missions, this would just streamline the XP and Skill point gain so people who want to can move to PVP faster. It's not giving a UAS, but, it's the next best thing IMHO.
And as you said one could just play Mission 1 over and over, so if that's still there, why not just make all the missions available to give people "variety" in the missions they gain XP from and open the door to more helpful players who have their favorite missions they enjoy doing more than once?

A better idea would be to incorporate skill points into bonus rewards. That way, most people (To my knowledge, many do two runs per mission--one for skill and one for bonus) would be able to get double the skill points currently gained from missions.
Red Sonya
That's a good idea as well. Anything that would streamline gaining skill points for those that want to move to PVP with their PVE characters. Killing same ole mobs over and over for miniscule XP gain just feels too much like a grind. But, with missions giving up their XP and skill point rewards it would streamline the whole game for those that want to move on faster and thus not become bored or frustrated with the grind.
Lasareth
Agreed, and with the skill point cost hovering at 20k per point, adding points at mission bonuses would surpass the amount that you'd have to farm xp missions if you wanted an equal amount of points.

If they allowed this, what would stop someone from creating just one toon, and using it for everything all the time? Nothing. This way creates more diversity and initiates more strategy. It fights stagnation.
"hmmm... I can't beat that team with a Ranger... but I bet a Necro would be helpful against them."
Personally I'm glad they don't allow copious amounts of XP on previous missions it's hard enough finding a group in some places at times...

doing same missions over and over and getting 1k exp. hmm. I dont think that is good idea.
reason:
player finishes mission 1 and also the bonus, that's 2k exp. Keep on doing over and over till the player reaches level... lets say 20. the next mission will be more like a walk in the park and the challenge is gone now. Some people will abuse this.

Does nobody see the "after completing the story" disclaimer? There wouldn't be any mission spamming to get from 5th to 20th, because they haven't finished the story!

No. People would do the first mission over and over for the easy exp. leading to no point of ascension.
BAD IDEA.
BAD IDEA.
mogget
owuld yall read its AFTER U COMPLETE THE GAME but ethier way its a bad idea cuz like stated above 1 toon can get every skill
ExplosiveBadger
Still, it's a bad idea. The people who finished all the missions already would rush back to the beggining missions and the lower levels would breeze through every mission.
Kai Nui
How about once you beat EVERY mission AND bonus you can go through the story again and all of them are refreshed. This way you'd have to beat every mission and every bonus again to restart the cycle, and it is tougher in some areas and there is a lot, no one can just do this over and over again, although several will be easier being level 20 and all.
Tactical-Dillusions
I mentioned the same thing as the OP over a month ago. Some XP for helping others.
Perhaps Anet could provide another means?
How about a mentor/pupil arrangement? You gain skill points when your pupil levels. 1 for level 1 (if he is in post searing at that level ) 2 for level 2 etc.
Whatever the outcome, i'm sure Anet has their eyes on the situation. They know some people are ticked off at the grind for skill points.

well i see absolutely no need in this idea of letting ppl get xp again...
however, the whole problem could be solved, if the mission xp reward would increase from the first mission on until the last one, so we would be like at 1k for the first, and 15k for the last mission
side quests (mostly harder than the mission itself of couse), should bringe you half xp from the main quest, BUT (again) give you at least 1 skill point (as this was done some time ago (beta?))
then, to round the whole thing up, there can be an extra-great reward for completing ALL primary missions (like 20k) and another very great reward, for those who really have done each single primary quest and all mission side quests available.
cause this would encourage ppl to search the older missions for the side quests, instead of just leaving them because they get no reasonable reward whatsoever with their lvl20-chars. only few ppl do them, mostly for the optic in the end.
if it stays as it is now: more and more ppl would just stop farming xp in the normal areas. why? just go to FoW, make a couple of missions and get more skill points in a single hour or two, than you would normally get in a week.
