Sorry for not having any pics. I know that it would validate this thread, but at the time I didn't plan on making a thread/thinking of taking pics.
I went to Perdition Rock yesterday to cap Echo. I got into a group, and we picked up another monk (the botter) before heading out. (I was also a monk, healer). We had no clue that he was a botter.
In town, he asked to invite him for some wanderings, and new experiences.
So, we did... he accepted the invite.
Once in the EA, we had decided on going left for a change. Well, the bot had other intentions. It veered right. It used the minimap to draw a safe path towards the first Flesh Golems.
The monk then ordered us to stay back, while it proceeded to smite the golems. He did this for the whole island (Fleshgolems), aggroing HUGE mobs, and smiting them.
He would first use the map to draw a couple thick lines showing where we shouldn't pass, told us to not go further, then would aggro the mobs, and smite them to death.
I thought this was very funny. The teammates started leaving, and I never did get echo (I got it in 5 minutes with a hench team later that day) during that run.
Anybody know why somebody would make a bot to help out other people? Drops and XP are spread out, so this isn't exactly efficient. Was this just some creative/generous botter with a wild idea?
Anybody else seen him?

What exactly made you believe they're a bot?
With the influx of chinese players, it's easily understandable how any player could have limited mastery of English, beyond some phrases ("¿Puedo ir al baño, por favor?" does not a spanish speaker make.). Many brazillians, chinese, and koreans I've played with on numerous RPG's knew trade phrases, basic party phrases, the names of skills, items, and spells, and that's about it.
On the other hand, repetitive actions, especially things like casting PbAoE offensive spells when no enemies are around, are possible indicators. Of course, since this game has relatively fast energy regeneration, as opposed to having to spend money on potions, that's not nearly as strong as it could be.

Doesn't sound too different to me, and I don't they'd make random arena PvP bots... Or would they? O_o;
Well, if he was an english/american player, the phrase "I want to touch you where the sun doesn't shine" would have touched a nerve or elicted a response. Sadly, my attempts at communication yielded no results.
Why would a player want his party to stay back, while he solos 15+ monsters? He only went after Flesh Golems. The lines he drew were repeated for emphasis. I told the whole party to stop drawing on the map, and yet "somebody" still did.
Phrases such as "Go Left" and "Stop" did nothing.
He wasn't speaking. He was entering a preprogrammed phrase every time we encountered a mob. There was no difference in the phrase, no random capitalizations or "Go leftwwwwwwwwwwww" even while he was moving, strong indicators of a human player, because running while typing isn't the easier thing if you use the keyboard for movement.
I'm gonna go hunt for him.

Had something similar in the FoW before. This monk would stay near the group at all times, never responded, never did anything but smite. We let her die eventually, and she did nothing. Her body just stayed there for a few hours while we went about our business.
We all assumed she was a bot because she would never stand still, and would always try to aggro anything. But, it was designed to stay near the group so the patroling pattern could be seen.

It would be very difficult to write a bot that drew lines on the map where you shouldn't cross, or one that knew when to double the line for emphasis. It would be a horribly complicated but completely useless addition to a bot so why would anyone go to the bother?
What you encountered was just a non-communicative player.

105/55er would get obliterated by the Flesh Golems. With a standard smiter, you stand a chance. But, most smite builds don't run remove hex, and this one used it.
Plus, read how I tried to get the person, if it was, to say something.
He didn't say a thing.
I dunno, thought it was wierd, wanted to post it and see if you guys had ever seen anything like it before.
I don't even think a real person would want to go ahead and aggro 15 Flesh Golems. The "person" didn't have ressurect.
