Ok i've playing the game maybe for a week maybe and i just went into searing i still don't understand elite skills and non elite,.. Some one please help me with my ignorance ?

Elite skills are *sometimes* better than normal skills. You can only gain them by using a signet of capture (first availabe in bergen hot springs i believe) on a dead boss carrying the skill. You can tell an elite skill by the gold bordering in the icon.

In Lion's Arch, and most Skill Trainers after it.
You have to do a quest to earn the Capture Signet the first time.

The first quest is "orion tablet shards", followed by the quest "Malaqurie's Challenge". You get the quests from somone named Malaquire, or something close to that.
The most special thing about an elite skills is you can only have one in your bar at a time under normal circumstances. The only times where you could have more are when you have an elite in your bar and then use a signet of capture to gain another one. However, one of the elites will disappear from your bar once you go back to town.
