UK Feedback - Buying GW in stores

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for feedback on Guild Wars availability in UK stores today (28th). I'd really appreciate if people could post here if they've been into a store and successfully bought GW ... and we're definitely interested in hearing if you couldn't get it, and the reason you were given.

Well I couldn't find more appropriate thread, and this goes as a bumb also, so I'm telling you about Finland.

I went to a store today, not specialised for games, but one that sells everything and is usually up to date with games. I asked if they have Guild Wars in stock, but it seems they have never even heard about the game. I asked are they going to get the game, and they muttered that they dout it. So, I'm quite dissappointed, I went to the store late at evening, and the shops specialised in games were not open, so I don't know if they have it, but there were no advetisements anywhere.

So, now I had to order trough internet (at least some stores sell it in internet here in Finland) and I'm not quite happy about it, because if I would have knew about it, I would have pre-ordered it trough internet, and would have been playing for about 2 days now, but now it won't happen until luckily tomorrow, mayde on monday.

But well, I can wait for a good game.

I Pre-Ordered a copy of the CE from SimplyGames in the UK just before the last beta and I played that fine and so far the game has been going great, however I haven't actuall recieved my copy of the game yet so hopefully i'll get it tomorow so I can enter the key. (This is the 28th)

i saw it in three different shops today, however Amazon.co.uk is turning up with my copy tomorrow, so didn't buy it / try to.

I preordered of gameplay, but they sold out, so they say can't despatch until the 1st of May. Well, sorry, no chance, I have school all next week so the bank holiday is the perfect chance to play guild wars to death. So I sulked, then cancelled my preorder. I'm buying it tomorrow at Game UK.

I enquired yesterday after seeing the american release date and I saw GAME had like six copies in. So It was 30pounds. Then on the Thursday (day of release) I ended up going to GameStation as they had it in. Which was weird considering I went there TOO the day before and they told me they hadn't really heard about it. I think the problem in the UK is that there was f**k all press, so If you were going to get it you would just have to see it in the shops and take a chance if you didn't know about it already. Shame. But no, all good, working copy, comes with a product key and a nice foldy box, 2 discs, the controls seem a tad different from some versions I have looked into, ex- j instead of h to bring up your attributes, but hey, who cares?

I got it from GAME UK today, too... The guy behind the counter knew nothing about it and now awaits my enlightened opinion. I think I'll just pop in tomorrow at lunch time with my tribal blade's persuasive powers and show him the path...!

I got it yesterday at Game (Oxford street) - only 6 copies or so though. I hate game (overpriced mainly) but Virgin megastores said they couldn't release it until today (Friday) so I went back to Game (stupid virgin).

yeah I bought my copy at GAME...the guy at virgin said the game wasn't released until the 29th...obviously this just isn't the case...so I shook my head quietly in disgust and went down to GAME to buy it

same price at both stores though...29.99

i got my copy (pre order) from game UK (www.game.net) i think. i ask someone about it instore before i preorder'd.... they said they would be getting copys but not untill the 29th and very few, hence me owning it off the net + game was GREAT and sent me my beta key by email before the last BWE event. so i got to play that and got the early access.

i love "game" now.. it also only cost meh £26.99 and i got double rewards points on my reward card for preorder.

i pre-ordered mine from simply games. They emailed my 1 key and i got the game perfect condition 29th

I preordered 4 copies from www.sendit.com .
They sent some of my friends pre orders. And my order is being processed. Hope it arrives soon...

PS. Sendit is selling the game with a quite lower price then everybody else, I don't know how they do it but, thats fine for me

It was available all over in Glasgow, both in chains and independent shops.

I ordered CE from simplygames, 1st class mail.

Was dispatched wednesday, now saturday.

Really disapointed with the service, missed over 1day gameplay, and counting.

Still have not yet recieved my copy.

They said its now in the hands of the royal mail.

It better hurry up

Why is mine taking so long then?

This is sort of what I am feeling, I ordered on the 25th from gameplay, they told me it had been dispatched on the 27th (when I was hoping to get it by, to play prelease), nothing on 28th, nothing on 29th, now 30th and nothing, it is Sunday tommorrow (no post service), and bank holiday monday (no post service), so I am going to (probably) get it on the 3rd of may... Thats 5 days of gw play time gone and I even cancelled my subscription for other games I play, as I was hoping to get it for the weekend... No chance ! Now I have nothing to do but read posts about people enjoying and playing the game ="-(
Maybe I should get a new game, send there game back telling them that they let me down with delivery time and I want a refund.. Oh I don't know but I am extremely pissed off with this.

I ordered on april 14th, It was dispatched wednesday, now saturday 30th, bank holiday weekend, + bank holiday monday.

Pretty annoyed with simplygames.com services.

yeah i got the game today in gamestation for £29.99 they obviously knew about the game coming out but when i went to dixons and woolworths they didnt even have it in store and i was like wat the hell lol but hey i got it so who cares but sendit and amazon are selling it at the lowest price.i was going to get it from amazon but i couldnt be bothered waiting for it to come lol so i just got it for £30 at gamestations.
