UK people keep checking in GAME; our store just sold out but they get deliveries most days and its likely GW will be shipped every week to each store. Otherwise I recommend www.gameplay.co.uk (thats where i got it simply coz GAME didnt do the pre-order pack or i'd have been after staff discount ) and I got it very promptly.

I only just heard of this game today on www.gamespot.com and decided i like the look of it so i went out to get it in town.

Stockport has a GAME and a Gamestation next door to each other, gamestation said they havent got it, and GAME still had "for display only" boxes out with the "pre-order" stickers still on them!

I'm off work this week so i decided to see if i could get it online, I just ordered it of the GAME website with a voucher i had for a total of 21.49 with next day delivery if its ordered before 2pm.

Hopefull it will arrive tommorrow

Strange, that's where I bought it!

Keep hoping and if needbe, go to Manchester or Ashton to try there, and don't forget some shops that offer PC games, too.

England.

Keep checking www.play.com as it's £17.99 on there, but it keeps going out of stock.

game and hmv both stock it, but since game is so popular, it may be sold out, like when i tried to buy it there.

Scratch my "should have it by 9am" post.

Its 14:10 and i still havent recieved it, the post office cut me off when i rang them and GAME say ask the post office

Its annoying that big companies cant get little things like this right

Call of Destiny [call]

I bought one on the release date, after pre-ordering the day before..

But it probably helps that I work in a game shop.

I've been popping into stores since the beginning of May, snooping around. Up until last weekend I never saw a copy of Guild Wars anywhere. I don't play MMORPGs ordinarily, but as Guild Wars didn't require a subscription fee I thought I'd give it a try -- but I wasn't bothered enough to order it online.

I saw it in GAME finally last Sunday, at which time I bought it. The girl who works there is a friend of mine from high school, and she knew all about it and said that it had only just come in towards the end of that week. It should be noted that I didn't see a single 'special edition' copy anywhere, including GAME, and still haven't.

I went out a week or so after the game came out but couldn't find it anywhere (GAME, PCWorld, HMV etc didn't have it.)

Empty handed I came home and ordered it online from play.com but after waiting 4 days for it to arrive the copy I got didn't have a CD key with it.

So i sent that back and ordered from gameplay.com, £10 more and a week wasted but at least I'm playing it now.

I couldnt find the game anywhere so I bought it off Ebay, incidentally, they were selling it for 25 pounds, boxed, instructions and cds, whereas your charging 29.99 on your site just for the key??? .

And if your still reading, for god sake segregate me from the Germans and French, it spoils the game understanding barely anything anyone is saying.

Bought mine ages ago from play.com for £17.99 including p&p. Do yourself a favour and don't let the British high street rip you off... in this day and age there really is no need.

It's not really 'ripping you off', as I doubt they make any more profit on individual products than the 'net stores that sell them cheaper. It just costs them a hell of a lot more to rent all those highstreet branches, furnish them, staff them etc. I prefer stores as it's quicker, easier (I don't have to get up at 8am on a Saturday to accept a delivery! Yay!), and much easier to take the product back if it's faulty. Personal preference, I guess :/.

so whats the excuse of Arenanet selling the game for 29.99 with no box, instructions, cds or overheads ?

Hey, I know im not UK or anyhting but australian.. I had to pay $90.00.
I see you guys only have to pay 26.00 in your currency and damn that one big difference lol.
But i found it hard for availibility after the first day although i did pre-order and got my copy the secon dit was on the self. Others havent are are stuck wating for more shipments lol . Poor people they still cant get it since release i dont know why but it seems the way.

*Shrugs*

You got me. Greed? I suppose that if you have to download the entire game that could cause some high demand on your servers and bandwidth, though I personally doubt that the cost would end up being as high as maintaining a high street store. I wouldn't like to buy a game like that anyway, to be honest, which is why I'm a little annoyed that Valve are moving away from the retail side of sales completely.

It is personal preference and one wouldn't want to be pedantic - but play.com is sent standard Royal Mail and you do not have to be in to sign for anything, it comes straight through the letterbox.

I increasingly despise the British high street and this article in today's Guardian, (in actual fact) says it all.

Imo, internet shopping is an absolute godsend for those of us wanting to find individual outlets, rather than be forced to shop in the dreary and ubiquitous 'megastores' you see on 10,000 high streets.

The whole Wal-Mart-ization of this country is a terrifying concept

/rant over.

Errr If you want my advice, dont listen to the drug crazed fool above, dont use play.com mate, because they write play.com on the DVD-shaped box and put it in the post with no insurance, Id say you might actually recieve, 4 out of every 10 games you order, if your lucky. Im not the only person I know thats had stuff disappear, and its a pain in the arse you dont need trying to convince Play.com your not taking them for a ride. Never EVER forget that postmen are thieving b******d's, if the can fit it in their pockets and its not insured, its gone, mind you I live in Manchester.....

Back to topic, I went in Game in Manc the other day and they had quite a few on the shelves

Yes, thank god for internet shopping. But I'm not a fan of play, delivery and despatch is slow compared to say gameplay.co.uk. And gameplay have the cashcard thing going, which is great for me because I don't have a credit card AND they don't wake you up to post it, just slide it through the letter box.
