GvG Tournament for guilds not ranked on official GW ladder
Knight
The Valiant Knights are excited about hosting a GvG tournament between eight guilds, each ranked lower than 1,000 on the official Guild Wars ladder. A grand prize of 112,000 gold to the winning guild and 16,000 gold to the second place guild. Visit www.valiantguild.com for the details and information on how to register your guild.
The reason for doing this is to provide an event for the smaller "lower" guilds (or just the really bad ones ) to have some fun in GvG. It gives guilds who don't have much GvG experience a chance to play some other guilds and form new alliances, have fun, gain experience, and make some new in-game friends for future battles. If you're a guild leader who's guild enters the tournament, you won't have to go search for unranked battles for a month!
We're looking forward to building new relationships with you guys and trust that it will be a fun time for everyone. Please feel free to contact me through www.valiantguild.com if you have any questions.

There's been some confusion here, so I'd just like to clarify real quick. "Ranked under 1,000" means that if your guild is not listed on the official Guild Wars ladder at http://ladder.guildwars.com you qualify for the tournament. In other words, if your guild's current ranking is between 10,000 and 1,000 or n/a, you're good to go. However, I would ask that guilds not apply who were ranked on the ladder and have recently disbanded and joined together again to clear losses from their record. We want the tournament to be as fair and equal as possible for everyone involved.
Please let me know either by PM or email or "Contact Us" through our site if you have other questions concerning this event. www.valiantguild.com Thanks guys!

What a great idea. Sounds like fun!
Our ranking, if I remember correctly, is in the 900s. We have done some ranked and unranked battles, only won one of the ranked (against, we believe, one lonely person and 4 henches--not confirmed though). I wish we qualified, we could use the practice!
When we have done the ranked, the other team always has at least one or two people making nasty comments. That is why I prefer unranked!
Good luck and have great fun. I admire your initiative, and you have a nice website too.

Here’s a noob for you: I don’t know the difference between Guild Rating and Guild Ranking. There. I said it.
I think one of those numbers is in the mid-900s, but I’m at work (heh) and can’t check it out right now.
Thanks for the offer – I will post a request soon on your site for some fun battles.

I'm a little confused, I have a guild about 13 strong casual players, and we havn't done any gvg yet. I believe new guilds all start at 1000 for.. guild rating I guess, could someone explain in a little more detail how the whole ratings and rankings work.

...I guess it could have also been a disgruntled officer trying to sabotage their guild, as I have heard about that.
What a disappointment, either way.

Yeah, we're definitely looking forward to it. Depending on how this goes, we may do it again, but next time make the tournament larger and accept a wider spread of guilds. It all depends on how smoothly this works.
Yeah, the rank thing is getting annoying for some of you guys, huh? My guild did some ranked GvG a couple days ago and won 4 in a row, which at that point eliminated us from being qualified for the tournament since our rank barely reached into the 900s. Fortunately we lost the next one, though, and dropped back to 1,200-something.
We still have 5 slots open for any guilds still thinking about joining. Read the rules at www.valiantguild.com and lemme know. You can contact me through our site or by using the GvG Tournament forum there.

If everything on that page makes sense, then e-mail me [email protected] with your guild name, guild tag, a screenshot of your cape (not required), your in-game name, and your guild's website (not required). Once we hook up in-game and you submit your 16k entry fee (for the winning pot), you'll be officially registered and ready to go.
