maybe i havent played long enough, but in my experience, i have seen no advantage to using an axe. the low minimal dmg just kills me, and unless you have axe mastery really high, you will hit like 10s and 8s all the time(used max axe with 11 mastery for awhile).
i went with hammer, because not only the sheer dmg, but knockdown destroys mursaat and jades. there are enough adr skills to keep earth shaker and counterblow almost a constant, and no spells means no dmg from mursaat.

I prefer hammers, but don't dismiss axes. Later on you'll find skills that make their damage go crazy. And your weapon attribute SHOULD be really high; if you're not at least at lvl 14 when you're lvl 20, it's a waste.
...Yes, the second sentence probably should be reworded. I don't care.

For PvE, I don't think I would ever use a hammer unless it was all I had. The warrior's job in PvE is simple, absorb damage from the mindless mobs. When wielding a hammer, you lose the ability of a shield which will result in much more damage taken per hit. However, in PvP, the shield plays less of a factor because your opponent will likely go after the monk/caster types first.
You have to be willing to play the percentages when using an axe. Yes, you hit for low damage like 8 and 10 sometimes, however, you are neglecting the times you hit for 40 or above.

i hit for 30-40 dmg standard with my hammer, and 55+ as often as a 40 with an axe.
as for warrior place, that is a very close minded view. in my guild battles, i usually take on the job of distracting the second monk and between mutiple knockdowns and dwarven battle stance, it isnt to hard to do well.

Sword.. it looks cool

I think all the sword votes are mainly because they "look cool" rather than performance.
Axes seem to be popular atm, but hammers get my vote, much more versatile, i think not having to use a shield is an advantage, then you dont have to waste attrib on tactics just to get more armour which is useless in pvp unless your the one on the runs.
Its just hard to choose elites for hammer, keep gettin stuck between backbreaker and dev hammer.
Also tried out Bulls Charge for a while, worked so well against running monks but packing berserkers and breaker is where its at for me, a monk with a broken spine isnt gonna be doin much running, not until hes back fixes itself magically 4 seconds later.

Wow, this thread came back from the grave. I'm surprised that the poll is so even.
Axe.
Axe.

I prefer axe due to its ability to just beat the fool out of enemies. Although the sword has better adrenal skills. Some of the better sword skills don't affect all creatures (ie; sever artery vs. undead and elementals) whereas an axe's hits anything and everything.

where is the option for "all of the above"? am i the only one who sees the benefits and uses of all three?

axe, because not all enemies bleed, so that rules out the sword for me
