memories of the way things were before...

I would love to see occasional events in towns like this. Anyone talking to the frog maybe bring this up some time. the ability to have fireworks displays in guildhalls or in towns would be a fantastic gold sink.

I just miss the cute little surprises we always found back in the beta days.

I know others have mentioned town sieges and other things... Who knows. May be something kind of neat to look at that already has code written for. We know its not too hard to launch, we saw different options at the end of a few BWEs.

lol Oh well...

i have read a post like this b4 and I think it is very cool. people in town could fight together or everyman for him/herself. of course it should be hard like 20 lvl 50 worms (or more) or a horde of undead or charrs. The players will be group in 8 automatically so there would be like a coordination and monks could heal team mates or again, everyman for himself

We always think that towns are the safest place to be. There is nothing much to do inside the town but forming a group, selling and buying stuffs. this idea will make it more interesting

Develop the idea more:
Going into the town is as before, but randomly there is a NPC that warns people of a oncoming attack. People can accept and enter a new instance. Instance will be balanced for lag by limiting how many players can be there at once. As far as joining in groups? I would like to see just a free for all. Help anyone and everyone isntead of spenind precious time trying to find that perfect group. Adds more challenge are realism, IMO.

This sounds great!

I have a few concerns though. How are drops distributed? You would have people rushing to an area where the worms just appeard to get all of the loot from the dead unsuspecting players who leave the dist after death.

What happens to the henchmen in the town? Do they act on there own or does first come first serve become in affect where one person has the mon healing and another the meat shield tanking?

What will the WTS spammers do? Thats just what I want to see when trying to coordinate an attack:

Joe Killer: Im Attacking Giant Worm Necro
Santa Clause: Kill the monk worm first!
Santa Clause: Im Attacking Giant Healing Worm
Dark Lord: ************WTS Godly Staff Wrapping of Fortitude 500K obo ****************************************

They will die first! No way a monk will bother healing them, and the righteous forces of Shai-Hulud will strike them down. Especially if they spam in local chat.

On a side notice: Infinite necro energy, woot! And think of the minions!

EDIT: Apologies to anyone ignorant of the dune series. Shai-Hulud was the fremen name for the sandworms

Hilarious.

I say the henchmen shout a few funny phrases and flee the town. And the traders/merchants/etc. roll their carts out and run as well. Of course, things like that are probably way too complicated, but imagine.

And hell, no drops - make it a fun thing, don't encourage the greedy kiddies to find a way to exploit and ruin it. Maybe if you succeed in slaying all the invaders, you get a little something special - maybe a little thank you from the townsfolk? The challenge and excitement itself should be reward enough though.

Things like this would really bring more life into the game.
