if they turn cape toggle on I am all for this. If they make areas incredibly difficult I won't be able to go with henchman and my faith in the common player is at an all time low. I however won't join a guild until they give me the option to turn off that retarded cape. I'd prefer this game be more difficult...but people are stupid and roughly 10% of the players play this game properly. It's a difficult game to solo so I find my pleasure in that task.

No... he's essentially complaining that because he spent time grinding through PvE, he should have an advantage over players better than him who didn't.

no suggestion is breaking the forum rules
move it to sardelac while you are at it
stop polluting the forums with this crap
anet seems to have no intention of improving mob ai or giving monsters much in the way of strategy. probably because the playerbase is not smart enough to handle it

Or is it just that you've spent so much time grinding for skillpoints and farming Ettins that you can kill noobs running Paladin premades in Arena in 10 different ways to give yourself an overinflated ego?

Its coments like the one that prompted SOT's response that make me believe that the only hope for GW is seperation of pvp-only "characters" (which should be called builds imho, because its not like they have any character. Its not like they are anything more than a temporary collection of skills with no average lifespan worth talking about.) From "roleplaying" characters. (roleplaying in quotes because GW rewards those who spend the time roleplaying a character into some sembalance of a PVP ready character are rewarded by being inferior by nature of relative inflexability by comparsion pvp-only builds, which will only be worsend if they implement uas without seperation.)
I agree that there should be difficult PvE only content with rewards of actual value in relation to the time spent.

I disagree about "there should be difficult PvE only content with rewards of actual value in relation to the time spent". That's garbage - there should be difficult PvE only content with rewards of actual value in relation to the SKILL required to do it.
Time spent is crap.

Yes, let's further ruin the competitive part of Guild Wars, so all the remains is a sub-par PvE full of players too cheap to pay for WoW, who complain there needs to be mounts and potions. Then the game dies because all the grind monkeys realize there's nothing left to do and go get another game, while the PvP that could have been good would have had infinite replay value.

I had a post about making PvE HARDER awhile ago. Apparently the majority of players only care about potions and hair dyes instead of actually having some sort of challenge.
Alright then, I'll go PvP for my 'challenge' then. But in a very specific incident, a new guild member tried to put up the boring and quite easy PvE for a couple weeks. He wants to try PvP, but unfortunately, he has very little skills since he is "playing the game as it should've been played." Great.
I couldn't bear to explain to him he might have to do PvE 2-3 more times.
He eventually ended up RUSHING himself. Grabbed henchmen and kept running past cities, hoping he could find something moderately challenging. Trying to pool enough money for a run to a mystical 'Droknar's Forge.' All of this behavior from a new player too.
I say we scale the difficulty in missions up the point where if you can't work as a team, you get locked in Post-Searing Ascalon with the king. And then get run over by the Charr again.
Then you get placed back in Noobscalon, a.k.a Pre-searing again since it was all a dream.

Here is what a-net should do.. they should give all the enemies the best skill set, unlimited mana, and make them level 50 or (heck even 100 for certain bosses) They should put the enemies in a bigger group (say 10 or 20 in one huge group) and make them stick together so there is no space for runner or smaller character to sneak pass them. That should make the game harder for people to beat.
Crimson_1190
As to harder I dont think that increasing the level/energy or numbers would be as effective as maybe smaller teams. Team builds that employ some sort of tactics....easier said than done i know.
edit
when i say teams i mean the mobs not the players. Some kind of strategy that would be more effective than just increasing numbers. Like giving monk chars (more of them) rez or maintainable enchantments. maybe fitting those groups with some player designed builds.

sorry misspoke there, skill is key youre correct. For example, it took 'x' amount of skill to camp a spawn in lower guk, in the early days of eq. It took 'x'-squared to put together a team capable of raiding the plane of fear and killing the god of fear. And the rewards were worth the skill required. Of course, there were problems dealing with the fact that it took 40 players to kill that one mob and then figuring out the loot.. but yea, skill was the key.

personally, i would want to see dual classes there too...maybe that is pushing it though. but i would like to see them team up and have one throw on poison and/or bleeding then have a mesmer epidemic it onto the rest of your clustered party ....but that is just pie in the sky isnt it

PvE does need to get harder. You play through PvE and discover it's a breeze, then step into the PvP world and realize a lot of the tricks you used are no good.
Or, just separate the two. Fine by me.

Henchies = dumber than most players*.
He want the game to be more challenging, he is not talking about grind.
I admit that the missions should require more team work. Getting through Thunderclap took me whooping 4 times before we got PUG good enough to comunicate well, but finally passing this mission gave me most satissfaction of entire PvE.

it seems like everyone is looking at this in a one dimensional way. it isnt "all players pvp or pve should be together" or all should be separate, its a mix between. personally, i would love to see really hard parts added to the game taht could give a pve character a jump on a pvp mold, but ONLY if it was amazingly difficult to get this advantage. when you separate pvp and pve, you take half the skill out of guild wars and make it much more like the average mmorpg. IMO, PvP is not so much about, my guy is better, so he wins, but, trying to assemble the most strategically perfect team, with and exact balance of skills. when you take PvP only out of this, it makes it very hard for a small group of PvE players to use strategy.
lets face it, no one wants to go to level 20 JUST because your team needs a certain mesmer with certain skills, or a CERTAIN necro. PvP players allow for a group of 4 warrior and 4 eles to create a balanced team.
before someone comes out and says "HEY, just find the right guys!" its much better to be in a group with people you can work with(who may have bad chars) then a group of morons with the right balance. furthermore, we all know how hard it is to find a monk in team arenas, and im sure that some of you may not have ever even had a good monk if it had not been for the use of PvP chars.

Think of it this way: Diablo 2 was HORRIBLY imbalanced, hackers were everywhere after two months, and the devs didn't seem to give two shits about it after a year or so. And guess what? It was MASSIVELY popular. Given that GW is very well balanced for how new it is, there's next to no hackers (bots are a seperate issue, and there's always a few people who figure out how to twink stuff), and the devs care. It'll stick around for awhile.

Au contraire, I own and play both. GW is a different type of RPG, and due to that it doesn't need all the PvE crap that WoW has. Frankly, the PvE in GW is a bit more "believable" than WoW's, and I like that. And yes, I do realize that the goal of an RPG isn't to be believable. Doesn't mean I can't like and appreciate that it is though, and I know a lot of people who have the same viewpoint as me. That's part of why GW is so good... you have the option of dedicated PvP. Wait, I didn't say that PvP is the ENTIRE GAME... but that's because it ISN'T. GW has the best PvP of any RPG to date IMO, but it's PvE is pretty kick-ass too. It's more of a "real" RPG, the kind you find in AD&D groups (of which I am one year clean... one day at a time, one day at a time ), and again, I like that. I like the WoW-style RPG too, don't get me wrong, it's why I own both games. Both games have their strengths and weaknesses, and GW's strengths FAR outweigh it's weaknesses. Even with the raging popularity of WoW and Dungeon Siege 2 on the horizon (the demo of which left me very dissapointed, but you KNOW it'll sell like hotcakes), GW will survive and prosper, because it's different from both and people like differences. I was just saying make pve areas that you would not even think of going into without a competent team.Like underworld.I dont think uber monks running around by themselves was the idea behind the game.Guildwars is about skill and not hours played.A concept i can understand to some degree.Taking a well known build and making an infinite number of copies is a joke.Im not attacking the PVP'ers, hell, its one of the gameplay options that make this such a great game.In essence i am saying Make the pve areas much more difficult in high end play.Make so you cant just go running thru it ,and if you can pull it off with henchies you can say you did something.Would be nice to have an area that very few peeps can get to and a reward to show they have been there.

And,
Oh no! A monk build that costs about 50k to create can solo one particular part of UW. A small part of UW.
If Anet cared that this was happening, they could 'nerf' it. They wouldn't need to 'nerf' the drops, or apply 'diminishing returns'. They could just set a minimum party limit. I'm sure they are clever enough to have thought of that. But they haven't done it...yet.

Well if u lot actually looked at some of the articles the GW put up they did mention that they were looking at how they can add content for Ascended only characters like the FOW & UW.
Also what u have to consider is this the 80% of peeps that you criticise and say r not good enough make up the majority. Therefore GW should be catering for them not u.
Also consider the FACT that u were once one of those 80%, since noone starts an expert!!!
GW has also said they wanted all area's of the game to be accessable to EVERYONE. I agree just because someone does not spend every waking hour playing GW and is not the greatest player around does not mean they should not be able to go to area's like FOW & UW and anything else like that.
