How to go back to early Ascalon

If I went through the quest where it takes you to "old ascalon of 2 years ago", how can I go back to the beginning? If my friend didn't go through that quest, can we still see each other in the game?

no.. once u go through the gates there's no going back...

once ur friend goes through.. u'll be able to hook up again.. but until then... u won't be able to see him

start another character if you want to go back
no you cant see each other until you are in the same time zone

That is a One Way trip. To get to the initial area, you will need to create a new character.

Your friend will join you when they have chosen to leave that area.
You may choose to wait or start new.
