Guild Wars is a global online roleplaying game. Players can engage in cooperative group combat, in single player adventures, or in large head-to-head guild battles. Guild Wars is a mission-based game set in a stunning 3D fantasy world that offers excellent support for guilds. Because the team that developed Guild Wars had experience creating successful online game series such as Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo, the members used their familiarity with the complex issues surrounding online games to create a game that is both easy to learn and compelling to play long term, and yet does not require players to spend hundreds of hours slogging through the preparation just to get to the fun bits.
1. Finishing the storyline with 1 character.
2. Exploring every portion of the game including FoW/UW.
3. Waiting for the summer update / expansion for more content.
4. Exploring PvP content with Guildmates while waiting for other PvE stuff.
5. Unlocking most of the PvP related content in a reasonable amount of time without repeating missions or farming.

This is how the game is presented for sale and it is the direction ArenaNet is going to balance it toward.

Just a friendly reminder to those that keep thinking GuildWars is a free server for World of Warcraft.

Have a nice day!

They disappeared right around the same time we got a flood of unintelligent people in that couldn't figure out how to use their brains to counter builds and understand skills, instead crying nerf because it sounded to powerful.

One part of your quote I find interesting is that they state that the game can be played in cooperative group combat, in single player adventures, or in large head-to-head guild battles. Since the quote states single player adventures, one would think that they realized one would have to have a fairly decent build to do much meaningful single (solo) play.

Why you got to make me hate people?

I've never forgotten, and neither have many Anetters.

It's a shame being a welfare state for people who want something to play "on the side" of WoW has damn near torn the game community asunder.

I'd love to see the day Anet fixes this whole thing.

Yes, all the people who want a "free MMO OMG!!!111" come to GW, and ArenaNet has been catering to these people. However, this game doesn't have enough PvE content nor enough long term goals to grind for for grind monkeys (barring PvP unlocks, which is mostly done by people who don't want to grind), and as it stands, not balanced and accessible enough PvP, and not enough PvP options. So right now its long term survival looks pretty endangered.
