16 Energy Storage
12 smiting prayer

skills: Zealots Fire, Aura of Restoration, Divine Boon, Ether Renewal, Balthazars Aura, Balthazars Spirit, Symbol of Wrath, *anything*

All i did was cast zealots fire, then aura, and then ether renewal, i cast divine boon nonstop for 10 secs, gaining 50-60 health each time, and 20 energy. So i could basically nonstop zealots fire, dealing retarted amounts of damage. It worked pretty well in pve, since the enemies dont really run away

Ether Renewal
Zealot's Fire
Aura of Restoration
Balthazar's Aura

These don't change

Divine Boon is also a staple skill for many people.

Still, Divine Boon Ether Renewal builds are crappy.
You build the entire thing around self-PbAoE, so it only works if people are standing near you. Unfortunately, you can't cast AND walk.

So, if people just walk away from you, or especially snare you, you're out.

The improvement on that is to grab skills that can be spammed on ALLIES. Reversal of Fortune, Draw Conditions, Protective Spirit, and the like. Then you can smite off party members instead. In that case, snaring isn't a big deal, unless your party and the enemies all run away leaving you behind, but that applies to anyone, really.

I find that Divine Boon spammers are far more likely to:
*Not bring a rez
*Stand inside of AoE spells, like Meteor Shower and Maelstrom (It's easier than you might think to do, getting caught up in spamming Boon, you FEEL invincible.)
*End up losing because they were the last one alive, and can't do anything but spam boon.

Do I have a passionate distaste for DB spammers? You bet.

PvP is a team effort, and acting like a one-man army does NOT contribute to it. The least you could do is help your teammates out a little, and if in the process you find out it's more efficient, then that's all the better.

On a side-note, common counters to E/Mo smiters include:
*Snares on self-PbAoE ones (went into detail already)
*Knockdowns (May interrupt ER, or waste valuable ER time)
*Signet of Humility (Please, mesmers, if you've got a throw away or iffy slot... This counters numerous builds hinged on an elite skill combo)
*Rend Enchantments and Lingering Curse (Rips everything off. Even if you miss Ether Renewal, if you get Zealot's Fire, then they've got to wait for its 1 minute recharge. Until then, they don't do anything but heal themselves.)

A simple tip for e/mo smiters that they hopefully all follow already:
Bring a backup mana battery. Use a staff with 20% enchantment mod, or a sword with 20% enchantment mod if you insist on being a self-PbAoE smiter with a +12 energy focus. On your F2 slot, bring a +15 -1en wand, and a +27 -1en focus.
Should you become drained of energy and unable to cast Ether Renewal, you can simply flip over to your second set and have 30 energy, enough to cast Ether Renewal and 4 five cost spells to refill you, or 3 divine boon's, if that's your style. It's almost always enough to refill you to the max.

Wished they had plans to nerf the broken Ether Renewal...

Mercury Angel pretty much already gave you some awesome advice, so all I have to say in addition is that Symbol of Wrath sucks. Judge's Insight is also a staple in a smiting build usually.

While I do not particularly like El/Mo smiters either, if they suck so bad, why does practically every arena and tombs team have 1?

These are all good:

Ether Renewal
AoRestoration
ZF
Balths Aura
Divine Boon

but you should add

Draw Conditions
Smite Hex or JI (for your war) or Scourge Healing
Res Sig

Spamming DC on the War is 10000x better than spamming boon on yourself.

Although this is the same build that has been posted many times before it is fun to play with (for now anyway since changes are coming to Divine Boon and Draw conditions). Not sure I understand the anti-smite tirade against the OP's build beings they only mentioned pve. But I guess we can't miss an opportunity to attack. Good suggestions though.

i dont see whats odd about this build, ive seen it plenty before >.<

and its nerfed because divine boon now has a recharge as entropy explained.

back to the ol' monk smiters i guess...

heck now that i think about it you can probably still pull of an emo smiter like that as long as you have someone use QZ for you. do the same trick people do to qs, and you might want to switch to draw conditions since the you will have a bigger strain on energy even with ether renewal
