I have got all the way upto ring of fire but want to try a bit of soloing and i so do like the idea of making a Ele/Mes 2 questions

Soloing from level 1 as eme? I used henchmen or whatever groups were available to level up.
I can solo quite a list of monsters now, and I prefer big swarms of them. If you intend to level up solo, then you have some work cut out for you. Many of the best spells will not be found until later in the game and I found my damage to be subpar early on, but its fun to play.
I think I mainly used mesmer skills until I got enough spells to be able to use earth. After enough time I slowly replaced my mesmer spells with elemental earth spells, mostly for defense. If you know what you are facing, mantras are extremely useful.
