Why?

First of all, i know what you will think right after you read this, why would you lend money to people?

We'll heres the story,
I was feeling generous that day, because i had just found an amazing drop while farming, so i went to ascalon, Free run to Sanctum Cay i shouted!
I had about 10 whispers in 3 seconds, one of them was named Mr.X, I filled up my group, taking 2 more at yaks bend, and set off. It was a glorious run, other then one hiccup when i had every single gargolye in the Diessa Lowland following me, the run went well, we finally got to Sanctum, and everyone in the group offered donations for the run, I humbly rejected them, saying I didn't do the run for money, i did it to help people.
Then this is where the true story starts. Summon Fate was a level 13, and appearently had already been to droknors forge, he whispered me, hey, i hate to ask for this, but i need 10k to get my forge armor. I responded, "Sure!" Why not, i had just done a 5k run for free, so money wasn't really an object at the time. My first mistake, he told me that he would farm, and would have the money back to be in a day, not to be rude, i give him a couple days, no answer. I wait a week and then finally whisper him, "Hey, don't mean to impose, but do you have the money yet? "I have 1k he responds" 1k? Where did this 10k in one day go? So i say don't worry, just give it to me when you have it all, so then the next day comes, i am on while he is on, but not to make the situation any more awkward then it already was, i dont whisper him. He takes the first step, "Hey i got 3k for ya". But alas! I was on the gwguru.com trade forum and didnt see the whisper. I then log on yesterday and lose patience. "Hey dude, i really need that money now" I didn't but i thought that might move the situation along. No response...

I whisper again, "hey i need that money" nothing again, i try again but he has ignored me! By Balthazaars beard i have been scammed! I then wait till today, about 2 minutes ago i whisper him, hey dude, why did you block me yesterday? "You asshole! I whispered you yesterday tell you i had the money, and you ignored me! So go RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO yourself im not paying you!" Excuse me? What? What happened to the nice person that i ran only a week ago? What happened to the 10k that i was supposed to get back the next day? I know it is just a video game, but it really makes me mad. I don't care about the money, i have 400k for christs sake and could double it in a week or two. But by this guy's rules after i did him a HUGE favor, giving him a free run that normally draws about 5-7k, then an even BIGGER favor lending him 10k, me being away from the computer justifies him not paying me back? Are you kidding?

This just goes to show you, people will put on a great big smile and kiss you ass while you pull them up and show them the way. Then when they get an opertunity to f*ck you, they walk right over you and take a shit on you body. This just pisses me off

He's a level 13, already had a run to Droknar's, got a free run from you already, and he NEEDS 10k for Forge armor? You should have ignored him as soon as you found out. But if you found a really good drop, I suppose that offsets it. Ignore the players that are out for money and being 1337, and go chill with the guys who don't have to have everything to win.

BTW, what drop did you get?

Well my advice to you is don't lend people money . I use the same philosophy in the offline world. Basically, if you're going to "lend" someone money, picture yourself as actually "giving" them the money since there's a chance you'll never get it back. If you picture yourself "giving" them the money then you won't be as keen on giving them large amounts of money .

Oh and you still haven't edited his name completely out of the post either .

I would worry if this were real life. However then you would have a contract and he would be in jail for fraud. Don't you just wish it was that way in gw? LOL.

Why do people "lend" money in game? There's no way to make them pay it back.

Sorry, but I got no sympathy for you. I think the whole idea of running characters from point A to point B in the game sucks. This game was designed to be played with a natural progression from start to finish with each character getting stronger and stronger as he/she progresses. By running characters you ruin the natural progression of things.

Now, you might wonder, why do I care? Why not let people play the game like they want to play it, while I play the game like I like to play it? Well, because this is a cooperative game where you generally do missions and quests in teams. I hate going out with a party with members who are of a level way too low for the stage of the game we are in. Its also no fun to go out with a party in low level areas with low level members who have been to Droknars or whereever and are wearing super advanced armor; this takes the challenge out of the game.

Helping people advance slowly through the game is one thing, but please please please drop this running stuff.

I used to be against running, but now that I have 1 character ascended and two more trying to beat Thirsty River, it is a pain to have to do all the time consuming stuff 3 times in a row (especially with multiple attempts needed on some missions)!

The general rule is not to trust people in games, as the scammers are more active than non-scammers. You should have asked for some sort of collateral.

you have 400k? and can double it in a week or two? how about you quit complaining, I have 10k, and will never reach 50 before I get bored of this game.

Actually im kinda screwed for money right now, because i personally think griffons have been nerfed, i used to get about 15 golds a day, maybe 1-2 on each run, and at least 2-3 purples, now i havent gotten a gold or a purple in 3 days

I forget if i put this point in the post but i didnt really care about the money, its the principle, and whoever made the point about running being a bad thing. i truly dont think you have ascended a char, then started over again

it is overwhelming how boring it is to do all those missions over again, i normally run my guild members to droks, then lvl them up there. Plus there are some good skills at droks
