Salvage or not to salvage

should i salvage this bow for the string or not risk it?

I dunno. I've salvaged a vampiric haft off of a 'vampiric hammer of warding'.

This person has no idea at all what he or she is talking about. Just so you know.

I treat the probabilities as a 1 in 3 chance you will get the string, 1 in 3 chance you will get the grip, and 1 in 3 chance you will salvage the bow itself and get wood planks or something. I am not sure that the probabilities exactly match that, but it is a good rule of thumb. So, if I am buy or selling something for the salvage attempt, I know to never offer more for the buy (or less for the sell), than one third the value of the best upgrade on the item if it were to salvage off. Hope that makes sense.

Given that a 4:1 vamp string sells for around 30K, if someone offers you more than 10K for the bow, I would sell it, and if not I would salvage it.
