I've been talking to some ignorant ppl in this game who called me a noob, and a f-ing noob, just because I think that the Collector's Bow in mineral Springs with Max damage and +15% above 50% hp is just as good as any super duper golden bow. Think about it. It's same speed as Long bow or somth like that. It got Godly Stats. Especially is I up it with perfect upgrades. I can make the best bow in the game from this baby. So what if it's not yellow, or "GOLD" as ppl who called me a noob poined out. Jeez get a life. Flaming me just cause I said yellow instead of GOLD??? Now if I'm wrong, correct me, and I'll shut up. But if you ignore the GOLD color and the cool looks of storm bows and etc, this collector item is the best you can get IMHO. I think that ppl who called me a noob are REAL noobs. Not me.
Collector's bow and "noobs".

That's the silliest thing I ever heared. If you care so much about looking good, why dont you join some dress up show? Or become a fashion designer? This game and all competitive games are about being good. If your ranger look like a dress up doll, and I own you with my collector bow in 5 secs, that dont make you a good dueler does it? Last time I checked GW was about battling and PvPing more that it is about PvE. HOH is where it's all at. Everyone says that. Your cool looks wont help you in win in HOH. Mabe in a beauty contest. But skills, quick reflexes and a good bow will.
Duh.
Peace
PS: oh and off course I agree that skill beats equipment here. But good equip helps.

I just picked one up like this in the desert. Its got the range 80 range of the Composite or Hornbow category (vs. 100 for longbow/flatbow types and 60 for shortbow). I havent had a chance to really figure out the re-fire rate and flight time yet to narrow it down between the two, but I'm guessing its Composite class.
I usually prefer a longbow for poisoning/pulling, but I went ahead and threw on a 2k poisoners string and a 1-2k +20hp grip and customized it. Average damage for unmoded max damage bow is something around 21.5 points per shot. With +15% for health > 50% and 20% for customization the average pushes up to 29 per shot.
I think this is a deal compared to paying some chump 30k plats for something not as good just because its *GOLD!!!*, plus I had fun hunting up the componets to get it.
Only issue might be, I don't think you can salvage items from collector bows (or is it quest reward weapons? or both?).

No you cannot salvage, i think, but why bother when u can simply replace as many times as u need? Just give it a good thought before putting in anything. Ahhh... At least someone agrees with me.
Ok ok.. Mabe it's not the best you can have. But with good upgrades, one of the best 4 sure. And it was fun and challenfing obtaining the components for it for me as well.

| Practiced Stance (Elite) is a way to get more bang for your preparation buck. It lowers the casting time of preparations (meh) and lengthens the duration (yay!). |

Seems the author just looked at skil descriptions, when writing that "FAQ".

The collector bow outside Augry Rock is a longbow with the title of Ascalon Bow. The collector bow in Mineral Springs is a shortbow with the title of Ascalon Bow. |
Just thought I'd mention something, 'cause to me killing Hydras is far easier than killing Avicara. I can do one solo on my ranger (and thus not miss those claw drops), and the other I'm fairly certain would shred me.
