Salvaging weapon parts

If you find a weapon that has 2 upgrade parts on it, is the part you salvage chosen randomly? Or will you always salvage a bow string instead of a grip on a fully upgraded bow for example?

I far as I know, the part salavaged on a weapon with 2 mods is totally random. I've salvaged plenty of items with 2 mods, and haven't noticed any trend with what component you get. But I wasn't exactly looking for a trend, so don't take that as gospel.

would anybody know if an expert salvage would give both items?

hehe... you need an expert kit to get *any* of those special items.

If they want a new gold sink, they should get an NPC who will salvage items for you for some exorbitant fee, but will remove all the parts intact.

i think that it was much harder to salvage a grip than a bow string and harder to get a sword pommel than a hilt..
at least that was my experience in the prior beta events. i was somewhat preoccupied in the last one so i didnt get around too much..

I noticed I was getting way more strings and hilts than other parts but I don't know why. I figured it was just the way salvaging worked. I guess I'll be paying closer attention when salvaging weapons in March
