Thunderhead gate glitch

It's not the difficulty of whether you did it or not, it's the ethical reasons. If you say that ethics don't belong in a game, well, I take that as a point of view rather that a fact.


This smells like someone trying to claim a moral highground that isn't there to claim. There isn't any competitive aspect here that needs to be addressed. Neither the servers nor the devs are going to have their feelings hurt if you walk through the walls and off a few Jades. It is the same type of action as cheating at solitaire, and while you can make a good argument for this being completely pointless, unethical is another story. Sooner or later the devs will fix the issue and that will be that.

The ethical concerns only arise in dealing with the intra-party conflict, since unlike solitaire a group is involved in this game. But neither side has any built in moral highground here. You seem to be trying to set yourself up to say "I play the game right so I'm more ethical". Which is debatable. The only really immediate right and wrong in the situation is who behaved like the bigger creep, and who stomped on whose enjoyment more. Which is, of course, highly subjective.

Now personally, had I been in the group I would have been just as happy to accomodate you as not, since I actually have a certain amount of respect for playing the game as it was meant to be played, not because it is ethical, but simply because it tends to be more satisfying. Of course these sorts of concerns tend to fly right past the crowd whose idea of intellectual stimulation is drawing genitals on the minimap and making racist jokes, so I tend simply for the sake of sanity to adopt a go-with-the-flow attitude. If I got up in arms about all the stuff that bugs me I'd never actually get around to playing the game.

all you gotta do is sit on the king. no running around or even catapulting is needed. Just get a semi-decent group. And just sit there waiting for people to come. I've done it with my W/Mo and henches like this. That's all you need to do. It's quite simple. You have 4 main paths to protect, with them coming at you two at a time. Sometimes four, if you're slow, but big deal? You have 8 guys. You don't even need a real monk, just need to watch the King's health up to that point, and use henches as you camp the king.

The glitch is really stupid, as there's nothing out there to take advantage of. Sure, the six jades are out there, but that is to dissuade your group from making an attack on the gate when units are spawning out of it.

What I should have said was, I consider this a choice between cheating and not cheating. If you do not consider this cheating, then you would have no problems with it. But since I do consider it cheating, I can not agree to doing it.

I certainly do not consider myself above anyone who does use the glitch, as I mentioned I used it on my monk. I just now choose not to use it now.

I think we don't really disagree, then. I'm just wary of discussions of this type taking on a moral tone. Perhaps I've read one too many flame wars about using god-mode or it's equivalents in other games. People get rather strident.
