Uh, you got a rare Foehammer. How is that a bug?
Elena
i believe its one of those drops that ore blue or purple or in this case gold but have no special stats at all all i can say is i feel sorry for u
Witchblade
never heard of that kinda "stats" for rares...
Tyrent Frath
haha, that kind of sucks, has happened to me with several swords that arent even max damage.
Lost
I get blank rares all the time. The game likes teasing people.
βlitzkrieg
WHat's the 'Gold Value' rating on the sword? Bit of luck you may be able to sell it to a merchant for a bit of gold.
One and Two
Uh...so? I'd agree...ID it and sell to merchant
Lukozer
I've had that happen to me a couple of times before with gold items. It's happened a load of times with purples too. I just salvaged them every time, like i do with almost any weapon i pick up, no big deal really...

Rare can be like that. For example if a char dropped a weapon thats several levels above it's standard drop, then it would be gold. It could have crappy stats, but still be gold. Rare is based upon the level of the creature dropping it, not the stats on the item.

This is a gold item, without mods, any mods at all
I get lots of purples without mods, only added value i can think of is that they probably have a higher chance of giving rae crafting materials when salvaging. Or at least by my observation

ID and sell/expert salvage for some rare craftables or toss on some mods and try to sell.
Beta Ray Bill
Had the same happen to me countless times. Fact is, MOST of the golds I get are crap and merchant-worthy. Best you can do is as stated above: expert salvage (won't necessarily yield rare crafting materials, but ya might get lucky), sell to a merchant for a few gold, or slap on some upgrades and sell to another player.
Sucks, but what can you do?

Ah ok, let me clarify: I make a distinction only between "unidentified" (un-id, as I called it in my previous post) and "identified", all items that have never been "unidentified" are (at least IMHO) therefore indentified.
To state this again in another way: All items who never had or no longer have "unidentified" on them are (in my opinion/by my definition) thus "identified".

Don't sell it to a merchant!! You could make a lot more money from it if you find some good mods and put them on it. The price jump from a purple weapon with mods to a gold weapon with mods is crazy on the market. So if you can get some good mods on it, you could sell it for a very decent amount. Not sure what it is, but people like gold weapons regardless of their stats. I think it's kinda dumb if ya ask me. I'd never pay through the nose for a gold weapon, but lots of people will.
Foppe
Its not even max dmg so putting good mods on it would really waste some mods.
marios
sell it to a merchant or sel it to a noob that doesnt noes and tell him thats very rare !
Numa Pompilius
Dargon has explained why its gold & crap: it's better than the other weapons in the low-level area where you found it.
Purple & gold is relative to the average weapons of the area.

I have gotten alot of these in the purple variety, never gold though...
Even though it doesn't say "Unidentified" identify it anyway. I used to just sell them to the merchant as-is, until i accidently idenified one and found out the "value" goes up a bit compared to it being "unidentified".

i've gotten a maxdmg 13 req gold no modded fiery dragon sword. and buncha other crap dat i sell to merchents, most of the golds i get has all crap mods once i wasted 3 hours straight doing griffons and gotten buncha rares like 20 of them only one had a dmg mod and only 5 or 6 were max dmgs i sold them all to merchent cuz i dont have any space left for crappy weapons like that
Savio
Hey, it could be worse with rares: you could end up with a rare Half Moon of ... Pruning. There wasn't even a damage mod on it...
At the very least, it sold to the merchant for a couple hundred gold.

wow. I thought my 12 req. purple 15-22 forked sword with no mods was bad.

WTF is that? I've picked up better white weapons than that in the same area...
ID'd it, sold for something like 24 gold, though. Crazy. That hammer though... definitely ID and sell to merchant. Don't waste time looking for an idiot to sell it to.

I've gone through silverwood (outside Quarell Falls) just killing Maguuma until my inventory is full and i've gotten more gold items than i thought i would. None of the weapons were worth much on their own, but one had a 3/1 Vampiric Axe Haft, a couple 4/1 Vampiric Bow Strings, and a +30 Axe Grip of Fortitude, among other things...
One and Two
Some guy i was with had a real crystalline. Like it said crystalline on the title. Damage? 4-7. LOL
Witchblade
sure it was a crystalline? not the LS from Pre-searing?
jdwoody
Over the weekend a gold max damage dragon sword dropped for me. It had a 12 requirement, so I knew it wouldn't be worth much, but I id'd it anyway.
+16% damage vs plants
The one good thing is it sold for 292 gold at the merchant, so it wasn't a total loss.

Don't feel bad, i get purple and gold weapons like this sometime. I guess these weapons are the so called "clean" gold/purple/blue weapons. Its common to see a drops like this now... maybe a-net want us to build our own weapons
Fye Duron
Try IDing the hammer before you start complaining... And what is your complaint? How is it a bug? I personally have gotten alot of non max damage weapons before so this one isn't a big deal...
Simdarth
Kind of makes me think about my present situation... I've gotten great axes and swords on drops, but I wanted to try out a hammer. I had a max damage clean hammer already, but I decided to wait and see if I could get something with some abilities. Over the past week, SEVEN gold max damage unidentified hammers have dropped in missions, but all assigned to other party members. Top it all off, none of them would trade or sell. 0.o
