I agree with this, you get so many swords/bows/hammers/axes why can't we have equal variety in weaponry for mages? Seeing everyone with the same Accursed Staff isn't all that "interesting".
Great Swords: Meh, this would be a wanna be hammer, it would be to slow to take advantage of the sword skills, I would say pass.
Halberds: Ranged Melee weapons, an axe on a stick, might be cool to see somewhat ranged combat from a warrior, but they would need draw backs when in close combat as they lose effectiveness. This would be physics as you have less arctime to really offer enough force to do anything, all you can do is stab things at close range. But it would be nice for warriors whacking ranged things

Spears: (why were they in the same category?) A different throwing weapon or perhaps you meant another poking weapon, pass Bostaffs are far greater than spears. If its a ranged idea I would also pass, Spears are not recyclable like arrows.
Hand to Hand: Nope, this doesn't work for combat purposes, a weapon is always > than hand to hand no matter how shinny your nuckles are.
Maces: These are armour breakers, they dent armour and make it painful to wear. They are virtually hammers, and require two hands to use effectively. You cannot single handedly "mace" someones armour. There are already maces in the game, they are hammers.
Flails: Same as above, a ranged hammer? Pass.
Crossbows: Short ranged, armour piercing weapons. Slow firing rate. Crap really, the only reason people moved to them was because they are easier to use than bows. No real need for these in GW, and you would be dead by the second shot.
