ive seen this really funny build running around. its 8 monks, all using Signet of judgement as a spike, and staying n a clump using heal area. they took us out without ever really taking damage, and they were using heal area like theres no tomorrow.

this build is unique from all other spike groups in that its also inherently really defensive... could we be seeing a group like this hold the hall the same way spirits did?

just a thought.

i think this may be a reason why panic was upped >.<

I think healing ball was before my time, and I don't really keep up with the metagame anyway..
but i bet a meteor shower in the middle of the ball would rain on their parade

Pun intended

mo/w balanced stance only problme is maelstrom if you drop a meteor shower and maelstrom there toast >.> but if they keep there wards and seeds up i doubt u will be able to kill them before the AoE's end.

We faced those in tombs friday night, took us forever and a day to kill them. They almost always ended up killing me(ele earth) due to me casting earth quate and ward vs elements. The spike is quite deadly, but yeah, we had 4 monks on our build and I got ressed, warrs synchronized their Aftershock after EQ and after a while, think they got bored. Anyway, we didn't have maelstrom(too bad) but we did enough dmg that we killed some of them while in their ball. After about forever, guess they ran out of energy and efficiency ran out, started getting killed, then a smite group came in to finish us off.

Lol all that effort to no avail.

*cough* Rust *cough*

Ok it may sound weird, but it's really effective ! We use a water ele these days in tombs, with Maelstrom, water trident and Rust, and it's awesome against Signet of devotion / Judgment, especially if the ennemies are gathered.

Um...Rust is almost universally agreed upon as one of the most useless skills in the game. I would never make my Water Ele take a useless skill just to somewhat counter this build (its that bad.) If you want to shut it down Primal Echoes does it easily, along with the newly buffed Panic.

Maelstrom anybody? That's all you really need to get them spread out and interrupted. The only thing it requires is that your team is fast enough to run in and start killing the monks.

Like WD said, Panic works well too.

Also, Signet of Weariness if you don't want to waste an elite.

panic is definitly teh way to counter thsi build but signet of weariness and maelstrom wont Open them up to attack, ive been playing this build alot and i think that most groups should start runnign mesmers with panic just because the skill is extremely good now. gl guys

Btw, concerning the 8 Monk spiker build. It takes an organized team to spike with the smites, but if you're organized, 8 Signets, followed by 8 Banishes, and 8 Bane Signets is quite deadly, but only if you countdown etc.

Primal echo + quickening zephyr can suck a smite group's energy reserve into oblivion. Smite groups usually bring QZ to help their signet and healing recharge, but if you throw primal echo to them you can mess up their energy management pretty fast, and pick them off one by one.

In my experience Malestrom doesn't interrupt signets, only spells. At least in UW I can use a blessed signet all day in a malestrom

Can someone say Choking Gas?

hehe yea it was amusing watching them all sit in a group and casting SOJ all together.

and yea if one person uses choking gas with practiced stance while another uses barrage you can do the same thing as maelstrom basically.

it was definetly a funny bulid to fight, our smite build at the time killed like 4/8 before we got wiped out. the funniest part was when there were like 2 people left and the group was slowly moving all together, it was hilarious watching them

oh and putrid was fun... they were sitting on our corpses. too bad they nerfed it because even with echo i only managed like 2 before they wiped me out

What if you ran 4 Mo/Me with 11 Insp and Mantra of Concentration, and 4 M/W with Balanced Stance. Deals with Maelstrom/Meteor Shower quite well.

Edit: Meant Mantra of Resolve, 11 Insp for 3 energy loss.

haha even better trash signet of judgement, go 4 heal monks 4 prot monks and hope the other team leaves after like 1 hour... your problem would be those dam unworthy. WAND THEM TO DEATH

sadly you could probably hold the hall with that build... *assuming* you get there

Eh, any multi damage AoE spell will take this out, especially a few combined.

Firestorm
Meteor Storm
Malestrom
Chaos Storm (this works really good cause it also saps their energy)
