I know everyone is all happy and shiny with this PvP weekend, but this is really starting to be a drag. I'm going on 2 hours now of just trying to get in a PUG. I don't care if the PUG sucks. I play a KD/AS Warrior and an Anticasting Mesmer. Being modest, I can say that I do one hell of a job with the warrior and after a few seconds with the Mesmer, I'm usually the other teams target. I also play a Monk, which I'm just so-so with. The catch? My monk can get a group anytime I want one. The two professions I stand out at? 2 hours+ of waiting.

So join an active guild, right? Well lo and behold I'm in a Guild with 54 active members and it's growing. I've been with these guys for years and through other games. Again... the catch? They all love PvE. Each and every one of them. This, of course, leaves me out in the cold typing "KD/AS Warrior LFG". As they're my friends and all emotional like most internet people, I really don't want the drama of leaving even for the short term.

Why would leaving for the short term even be an option? To get rank. 90% of the time I'm not put in a PUG because I'm only rank 1. Great... that makes sense. You'd take a high ranked person who rode the coattails of their guild to get that rank over someone who has been there, done that with all types of builds (PUGs no less!) to scrape and scratch for rank 1, approaching 2? Go you

So I really don't know what to do. I know I'm not alone. Maybe this thread can generate some ideas. I was thinking of having 1 or 2 districts solely reserved for finding a PUG, so the guild teams and formed teams can be someplace else, but folks looking to join a random group can go there and advertise. The one thing I don't want to do (and won't do) is just play a half assed monk and ride the coattails of others to rank 3 and that silly deer head that's an 'in pass.'

I'm sorry to hear that, mate. But you really must find a guild that shares your interests. In this game, there are organized guild groups and there are disorganized PUG groups, and the former beats the latter almost everytime.

I'm afraid that you're gonna get nowhere by spamming LFG in tombs. I tried it once as a monk, last friday, while the rest of the guild was busy, and our PUG couldn't even get past the unworthy. That was, and probably will be for a long while, the last time I try for HoH with a PUG.

As for rank, I would personally never reject anyone who's below r3 when looking for 1 more person to fill out a team, since rank is a very poor measure of a player's worth. I would, however, prefer a higher ranked player. As bad as rank is, it's still the only way of knowing that a random person has experience in PvP.

Heh I'm in a guild of 100 and there's no GvG events anymore at all, nothing, it's like everyone has just grown bored of it all, there's a handful of us on at anytime anymore, many haven't logged on for 4 to 6 weeks. We've gone from a 400+ ranked guild to 999 as of my last checking. Kinda sad Many have left for leet guilds as well. I guess I won't be far behind. I don't mind being in a low rated guild but damn I'd like to GvG at least once or twice a day if not more.

I understand the problem your having. All I can say is keep trying and eventually you will find some players who recongize how unimportant rank is and you can play with them on a regular basis.
