Am I duplicating Armor
KRockBrown
I am a W/M and use all Gladiator Armor except for the Ascalon Boots because they reduce damage attack. I also a use Major Absorption rune, and have a shield which has -2 damage reduction. My question is do all these stack? If not would I be better off getting Gladiator boots for the extra energy?
Thanks

Yup, unless A-net changed anything in the last update, all of these damage reduction mods should stack for a total of -5 damage. Just remember that you have to get hit from the front in order for your shield to do its part in damage reduction. The Ascalon and Knight's Boots provide a universal -1 damage no matter where you get hit. They practically have a free Minor Absorption rune in them, to which you can even add another Absorption rune of any type to get added damage reduction. Hope this helps.

Isn't damage calculated per hit-location? so if you get hit in the chest, those boots won't help one bit? The boots granting damage reduction to all other hit-location was a bug they fixed, I believe...

it's a great debate. One party says they've tested whether or not the dmg reduction covers the whole character even though it's only in their shoes and that they've tested it and here's their results showing it to happen. Another party comes along and does exactly the same thing only their results say the opposite. Nobody is certain if it actually works or not. That said, the dmg reduction from the rune is indeed universal to the character and not the location.

unless i constantly get hit in the feet...it is universal
Savio
I've tested it myself, and I can say for certain it's global reduction. That, and Ascalon/Knight's armor provides -2 damage reduction, not -1. So if you get hit from the front you'd get -6 total. And no, Asacalon and Knight's do not stack together.
Divine Elemental
if they stacked that would make sup absorbs worthless
Eonwe
Yes, they all stack, and no it would not make a superior absorption rune worthless. Maybe if you're poor, and we're talking about pve here, then it may become somewhat *worthless*

The reduction effect for the boots is universal.
The reduction effect for the shield and rune are obviously universal.
Yes, they stack.

Under the assumption that the armor dmg reduction effect is universal, having 4 pieces of armor is the same as having 1 piece. Having 4 pieces will not give you -8.
