Can you dye a piece of armor multiple colors or will a second dye just turn the item that color?

You can't have distinct colors on the same piece of armor, i.e. with Knight's armor, you can only dye a certain part of it a color, the rest will stay gray. The second dye you add to an armor will mix with the dye already on the armor, but to what degree I'm not sure. Also, keep in mind that most armors already have a dye on them when you buy them; those are taken into account too when you add dye. If you want more control over what color appears on the parts you dye, you can mix dyes together before applying them to armor.

How do you mix them prior to applying them?

Just mix two colours together to make the new mixture. Its that easy. There are loads of colour guilds on the net.

Just double click one dye color and click on another dye color to create a new mixed dye.

It will make a serperate bottle of mixed dye. Just say double click a yellow and then click on your stack of blue and it will take 1 blue and a new bottle of mixed dye will appear.
