Weapon Colors?
disarm76
Now, i know that the weapon colors go from low-to-high and white-to-gold.
My question here is: see this wand stats?
Why is it PURPLE?
Like this there are many other examples.
It's a normal wand, i have found blue wands much better then this one.
But, why is it PURPLE?

Where did you find it? I've seen plenty of purples like that pre-searing or close to it.
Now, if that was a UW drop, I'd be mildly irritated.

It's more the fact that you just got screwed on the "roll" when you ID'ed that item. Every once in awhile you'll get a blue, purple, and even gold item that's got nothing on it beyond spiffy-looking text...
zehly
It's purple to trick you into believing you're getting something you're not... sorta like finding a gold item.

With the weapons that don't have any mods whatsoever, it won't say "Unidentified" on it. However, identifying it usually makes the item more valuable at the merchant. Of course, in the OP's case it probably wasn't worth the trouble to identify

yea i've gotten a max damage gold runic hammer....the description ends there.
games messed lol

if you get a max dmg gold drop take advantage of it. Put two decent modifiers on it and sell the stupid thing for a plat or two to someone in ascalon city who only cares that it's max dmg and gold.

Something that has always made me wonder is... why are collector weapons light blue when much of the time they are better than the gold weapon drops in the same area?
Sir Skullcrasher
Gold swords with no mod.. i got that before
Gold hammers with no mod.. i got that before
Purple staff/rod/wand... same no mod

Blue = Magic, Purple = UnCommon, Gold = Rare.

Circle = Common, Triangle = Uncommon, and Star = Rare
To be honest, I like the purples. I have a 10 AL shield for 2 Tactics, which has held through most of the game.

Here's what will really boil your eggs... just when you think it couldn't get any worse: salvage the item. I guarantee you disappointment. Why? Destiny.

White = no special mods, regular item (Some collector's items, like the Ascalon Bow with +energy, is still classified as this.)
Blue = special properties/mods, collector's items, quest rewards
Purple = uncommon items
Gold = rare items
Purple and gold don't necessarily have mods.
And actually Zehly, I think that colored items give better salvage than normal items. Maybe it's the fact that they usually have mods on them, but as far as I can tell they've given me a lot more materials than usual, even if they aren't "Highly Salvageable".
