Hi, and welcome to n00b question #1..

My E/Mo just made it to Yak's Bend and I'm wondering if it'll be worth buying the Hydromancer's armor set... I can't remember how many critters in the Northern Shiverpeaks use/have cold damage atatcks/skills....

Now money isn't a hinderance for me.. i can afford it, as well as the materials (and no I'm not rich.. but I have enough for my needs..). I'm likely going to go ahead and do it anyways and then just upgrade either of my sets as wanted/needed... but was considering buying the Hydromancer armor because of my location...

Anyone remember how much cold attack/skills/damage is done by the critters in this area? heh.. Cuz even though I've been through there 3 other times.. I just can't remember.. heh

There are a bunch of Ice Golems in that area. Other than that the Dolyaks and the Stone Summit don't do cold damage.

But Maguuma Rangers like to lay down winter spirits which will change all damage into cold damage.

Well I ended up buying it.. because both Savio & blane are correct - there are quite a few Ice Golems around as well as the ranger critter's who use the Winter spirit..

but what dissapointed me is that I dyed it the same color as my Pyro armor.. and it turned out to be duller than on my pyro armor. bah! Oh wells.. I don't feel like using anymore of my dye's to try anymore.. heh.. I just liked the color of my pyro armor.. heh.

Er, they change all elemental damage to cold damage, which doesn't mean a thing to the damage you're taking since the only elemental damage enemies deal out there is cold anyway. All the Spirit of Winter means is that the enemies probably have cold resistant armor themselves and don't want to deal with your fire damage.

They'd need a Spirit of Great Conflagration with that Winter to get ALL damage to cold, but that's not something you'll be seeing in PvE until long after Yak's Bend.

EDIT: And it's Shiverpeak Rangers. Meguumas aren't until the desert. lol
