Demonic/Dark Remains expert salvaged equal Ecto?

This is such a retarted question because I've visited UW/FOW a lot, and this a first for me...But anyway, I was with a group ealier today, and they said that demonic remains and dark remains could salvage into ecto? First thing that came to mind was, "Gosh, that souds so stupid..." But I had to know for myself...Can anyone give me any input on that? Not that I'd waste an expert salvage kit on every demonic and dark remain that I get...It's just a question...I have yet to find a person who actually has...It's just a good as saying "You can't use flame traps on smites because it burns ecto..." Cuz someone told me that once too when I was in a trapper group in UW...(I know that's BS...haha, good laughs), but anyway, can someone confirm the ecto thing for me? I was just curious...

the odds of it happening are less than 1% i think. not worth the time or money.

To tell the truth, I actually have salvaged 1 ecto from a pile of demonic remains. It was on my first trip to UW, a few months back. I had no idea what was in the UW, what demonic remains were or were intended for, and I had no idea that ectos were even valuable. (this was before the glitch with the forgemaster quest was fixed, before FoW armor could even be forged)

I had a stack of about 6 or 7 demonic remains and I wasn't sure if they were good for anything, so I decided to salvage them rather than sell them to the merchant. I was kinda disappointed getting dust at first, but then the second to the last one gave me an ecto. I had seen an ecto drop for another player down in UW in my group, but they had told me that the ectos were useless... they were kind of like the Monsterous Fangs and Claws. So I ended up selling it to the merchant for 100g.

Since that time, I'm sure Anet has nerfed the salvage tables on Demonic Remains so that they don't salvage into Ectos anymore, but I still salvage every single one I get in the hopes that I'll get another ecto. It's not like I have anything to lose by doing so.

What are remains and stuff worth.. 20 and 60? And you can get like 15 dust out of it? That you can sell for 14 a piece? It's a waste.. not to salvage it.

Since when can you sell dust for 14g apiece?

Last I heard, it goes for 10g each at best. And for that, you usually have to work quite a bit. Most players won't pay more than 6g gold each.

i salvage about 20 dark remains with an expert kit once, only got about 3-4 dust each,

20 dark remains 60 gold each 1200 gold
80% of an expert kit, 320 gold

1520 gold

80 dust, if i could manage to sell for 10 each

800 gold

for me salvaging them was a waste

and usually when i see someone saying they salvaged and ecto from remains, they are trying to sell remains for 200 gold each right afterwards, so use your own judgement on that

I never got ectos from demonic or dark remains.
I aslways get dust.
And you cannot sell dust for 10gp these days. They go for 5 or 6gp

yea, i have never got a ecto out of a dark remain, and thats all i do all day anymore.

Actually, if people want dust bad enough, they will buy it for 10 gp a piece...I sold bulks of dust for 10 gp each before...And that wasn't me giving the price, it was what they were offering...In fact, that has happened on serveral occasions...So there are people who are willing to pay 10 gold each...
