What is the significance of gold items?

They do not seem to have any effect and th eitem I found has rather average damage and energy bonus,

I am SURE I am missing soemthing and I know selling it for the 130 gold the merchant is offering canl;t be a good idea .

Any help?

Thanks

Gold is supposed to mean very rare item, but it unfortunately seems to be random whether the item possesses attributes that are worthy of a gold item. Usually, though, a gold drop will be better in some way, for example having a lot of extra attributes (component upgrades).

(wow, seems I got upgraded to "professor" status today. What is that supposed to mean? And what is next? Moderator? )

I guess a 7-11 grim cesta with a +4 energy isn't the greatest for gold lol - ah well back to the drawing board

the requirement on the item is probably very low.

and Coolsti...Professor just refers to the number of posts you've made.
