Should Unexpanded Play w/ Expanded

Should the unexpanded players beable to compete in PvP with the people playing with the upcoming expansion?

Honestly it would be nice, but I would rather that they seperate the two because then more stuff can be added to the expansion without having to worry about collisons with the two versions.
