ok, i played a little on my bf's account, liked the game and have ordered my own. but which char should i use??? i had a ranger w/ mes secondary... but i don't think that was very good. i like my ranged attack bow and arrow sorta thing... any advise?

If you dont really mind not having your bow and you wanna hurt things - you could make a w/mo - they hit things hard and can take alot of damage...
If you want to deal loads of damage to alot of things in one go... elementalist... no question. you may however be somewhat frail...

no i like my bow and arrows... i don't need to be near things to kill them and by the time they get to me to try and kill me they're almost dead!

you know, you can use a bow and arrows, no matter what your class is....
you just dont get the same damage, i think.
and you can take ranger as a second class and still get all the fun of being a ranger. i have a necro ranger called Anita. i needed ranger for the pet, she has a conection to cats, you see. her animanl of call being a leopard, i went with ranger for a pet cat
however, by using necro runes on my armour, i can pump points into marksman and get all the killing mobs fun i want, and still get energy back from deaths with a soul reaping rune
yeah, ranger ele is a nice combo, and you wont be asked to do the juggy dance as much if your a ranger gall *grins* than if your an elementalist.
most people that like ele go for fire, though....firestorm (i htink its called) is a great one to use, so long as you have some way of keeping the monsters in one spot long enough for you to cast it and them not run out of it^^

Go Ranger/Mesmer, its a helluva lotta fun for people to get interrupted and make em die fast
They are mostly support, but they can get a blackout on an elementalist and then use poision arrow again and again. Or u can kill 8 very low health people with barrage
