Hi all. I was hoping someone in the know could explain rune salvaging. I have a superior rune in my head tatoos. If I want to change to new tatoos, what are the chances I will salvage the rune out?

In my experience to date, runes that have been salvaged before never seem to come out. Runes that havn't always seem to come out. Can anyone who knows the answer please tell me?

And yes, I used the search function...I only found speculation though.

Thanks

Andy

If you salvege a Rune from an Armor Drop, it will salvage every time (100% success)
When you try to salvage it from your armor there is still a chance that you're going to lose it and only get common/rare materials.

So there's a 50/50 chance that the rune will salvage.

I have had - rough estimate - 85% success rate salvaging runes from my own armor.

This may be a stupid question, but are you always using the Expert Salvage kit?

If you use a expert salvage kit .You will have a 100/100 chance.

Brother Andicus - I don't know if anyone can give you a 100% correct answer. The only peoiple who know for sure are the dev's. You best bet is to grab an expert salvage kit and hope/pray to get the rune.

Spartan 117 - wrong. You only get a 100% chance of expert salvaging a rune if it's in an armor drop from a critter - IE major vigor rune in Grawl Gear will give you the Major vigor rune if you use an expert salvage kit on it. However on player armor there is a chance you will only salvage crafting gear and not the rune.

And you can only salvage runes with an Expert Salvage Kit anyways, a normal kit will never salvage a rune.

Well, I went for it, and fortunately was successful. It helps when a rich guildmate offers to buy you a new rune if it hadnt come out.

Know for a fact that if you salvage your own armor with an expert salvage kit, you do not have a 100% chance of recovering the rune.

I tried this last night and I got only normal crafting materials back. Usually, however, this works, and I get back my original rune.
