i was in a pug, and we were doin great until the second run where we met ----. anyway i was messing around with their ghost and i saw one of the MONKS use conjure phantasm...!?!?!? i was like... wtf? they totally owned us so there must be some reason behind it...
*note the ---- is the name of a guild, im not sure if i should say their name b/c they might get all annoyed at me. so if someone ok's it ill tell ya. otherwise, just pretend it was sB or something. but it was a good guild trust me

Your team could cast Conjure Phantasm, right?

Gets my vote. (Except it relies on the enemy team having Phantasm, not necessarily his.)

i dont think we had conjure... the only mesmer was a me/n that was all death/dom.

Yes, but Inspired Hex doesn't remove a hex from the enemy anyway.

Inspired Hex takes it off one of your own party members, so if the other team hexed one of your guys you could use Inspired Hex to get it.

Yea, chances are one of their monks used inspire hex to pull it off one of his team mates, then since he saw that they were rolling you guys he probably decided to throw it on someone for shits and giggles. It might have been us, if it was last night. We actually did some tombs for once :| .

It is possible that they want to have almost every team member to use some kind of DoT... but that would be quite a team to organize it to get it effective... It give alot of pressure to monks when they see the whole team are stacked with some form of heavy DoT.
For example: if everyone on your team carry obsidian flame... (and monk can go earth with obsidian flesh + obsidian flame), you can potentially all of sudden take out 1 target while engaging, which can wreck havoc on your opponent... in theory.

Yeah, when I run monk with it I pull off the craziest hexes from ghostly heros. Then for fun just toss them onto enemies.

In the future... it really doesn't matter. If you see a build, it's out in the open. If a guild is using a build, consider it open source... if they didn't want anyone to see it, they wouldn't use it.

This is a bit off-topic, but I have to agree with you there. That's why I'm a big fan of the upcoming observer mode. One of my guildies doesn't like the idea, because he thinks that in order to find out a winning team's build, you should have to get to the HoH 5 times and lose 5 times to figure it out. I think, though, that there's much more than just figuring out what skills a build uses and the situations in which the skills are used. If a team's dominating the hall with a build, sure, another team could maybe copy it, but in the end, the team with the most experience is gonna win.
Or rather, the team with the most smiters. :/
