I don't know how you guys do it--Frustrated
Chewy
Hi all,
This is my first character on guild wars, and i've been playing about a week now.
I read on here how great and powerful the R/Me build is.. But I just don't get it.
I'm a lvl 17 at Temple of Ages doing the Galrath quest. I can't even do it with henchies, we always get near and just get clobbered with the shear amount of enemies...I try to pull groups of them at a time...but at some point, you are going to face 7+ minotaurs or something like that..and your group just gets decimated...
My attributes are :
12 Exp (including major rune)
6 Wilderness (including minor rune)
11 Marks (including minor rune)
I'm using the Druid armor set and have a Major vigor rune in boots.
I'm using a Sundering Composite Bow of Fortitude
14-27
Damage +17
armor pen +10
Health +27
Skills in bar are..
Penetrating attack (i mostly just use this as much as possible)
Dual Shot (sometimes, depends on the damage I'm seeing)
Distracting Shot (try to interrupt annoying spells like healing sig or life siphon)
Ignite Arrows (always prepare this....i use apply poison if i'm not fighting undead)
Lightning Reflexes (I use this and whilring defense when I get in a bind with too many melee's on me)
Whirling Defense
Troll Unjuent (when my healer doesn't heal me fast enough)
Res Sig (to res my healer)
I'm frustrated cause I can't solo for the life of me...and I have no idea what mesmer spells to use, since they all cost ++ energy and i always run out.
Any tips on what skills i should use or how how to make use of my mesmer line would be great! Also should i use throw dirt?
Thanks~!

Put 12 in to Marksmanship, aim for 13 expertise if you run a lot of 5 energy ranger skills, 14 expertise if your running a lot of 10 energy ranger skills, and possibly replace Lightning Reflexes with Tiger's Fury. I would suggest buying a longbow, as that is better for pulling than composite bows. Other than that, it looks pretty solid for PvE.
Chewy
no more attribute points to give out...heh...can't raise it higher unless I take a hit on HP and get a whole bunch of superiors... and that would be at least -150 hp for two....ouch

Use Conjure Phantasm+apply poison+hunters shot for an amazing HP drain on the enemy. Then you can follow it up with your penetrating shot or whatever. I find that a build like this is superb at reducing monster's HP's effectively and as quickly as possible. Also, if your going for the spike damage on a monster, take along Kindle Arrows, as it costs less and is more effective at such. Ignite may bring you some unwanted company. I would suggest a high Marksmanship and high wilderness with the rest dumped into Expertise. With the rune, it should nearly make up for it
I hope I helped you!
PS - I ran a Judges Insight + Penetrating attack ranger for a while before I switched to beastmastery. Also, when doing Galrath, take along Physical resistence (if you can) to help deal with all those minotaurs.

Uh, I could barely do the quest as a lvl 20 ranger...the trick is to just take out enemies, resurrect, and go back and take out some more. Don't give up, death penalty ain't so bad :P
Arturo02
and don't forget about the high ground, a must for a ranger to deal the most damage. I always see rangers shooting UP at their target. Bad bad bad.
Chewy
poison sucks against undead...haha...

The Galrath quest is a difficult quest, hence the 4000 exp reward. It can be difficult in PUGs because this is really the first time that Warriors discover they can lose! Seriously, many Warriors over aggro during this mission because they haven't been challenged before now.
You need real people, and you need to work as a TEAM. That is the real purpose of this quest.

ummm, i also can't do the Defend Beetletun from the skeleton horde quest...ugh
magicplayer.exe
what part do you get stuck on? middle, or the dragon?
if it's the dragon, single out the casters by calling them, you do this by holding down ctrl, then attack, you hencies will try to kill the called target, then when the target dies, do it again, but if you die, just keep doing it
hopes this helps

I agree with Carinae. Obviously you have an exceptional weapon (Depending on the 10/X on your bow), your runes are fairly solid, and your skill set is intuitively good, under the circumstances - but you need to get a real group going (plenty leave from TOA do Galrath) that way you can get more than 1 healer, and at any rate, you find players will [almost] always be more effective than henchmen.
One and Two
i know a secret way to doing this quest... =)
hint: it involves a lot of running, barely any fighting. in fact, no fighting at all, as i recall.
edit: and the undead hordes quest...teamwork. call targets. whatever. or find a solo monk and ask to tag along. i would consider doing it for you, but im not allowed to play for a while...asian parents....sigh...

everytime i get swamped by the Undead Horde quest. I do it by myself with henchmen and we get slaughtered after more and more hordes come in. I always succeed though because all you have to do is respawn and if they are ganging up at you at the spawn is call 1 target and get rid of them 1 by 1..thats how i end up doing it.
Diablo???
for only 500 xp the quest is not worth it

Health +27 Sundering is weak. Fortitude is overrated. Composite Bows are really only good for interrupting. What do you mean by "Damage +17"?

Res Sig (to res my healer) Drop Lightning Reflexes for a real IAS skill. I would personally drop Whirling Defense at this point too, possibly replacing it with Throw Dirt (ability to keep warriors off your entire team briefly > ability to keep warriors off you briefly), but meh.
