Level 7.. in pre-searing -- What the devil?

So I have been playing in Pre-Searing for the last two days and have reached level 7. I was getting sick of the quests around the starting area because all the rewards were weak weapons, etc. I did get a pair of elementalist leggings and a good bow but the rest of the rewards sucked.

Well, LUCKILY I was in the main city and asked everyone where I should go. Someone pointed me to Tryus or whoever and that opened up a whole new branch of the game. But he had no exclamation point or anything. How are we supposed to know to do!?

Well, I just barely got to post-searing and hopefully 'This is where the new story beings....'

Does the game open up quite a bit Post-Searing?

The entire rest of the game is post searing.

First of all, I also helped a level 7 find out about the Searing thing yesterday. Was I the one who helped you? Eh, either way, there are a few quests that take you to Tyrus, and he tells you that you're needed, and goes through the whole thing about what you could do, and that you're going to have to leave everything behind, etc.

I hope there are some better weapons and rewards now...

What level are you supposed to "enter" Post-Searing? And how is the average player even going to know how to "get" there!?

If that person wouldn't have told me about Sir Tyrus this morning, I might have been wondering around Pre-Searing for days! I am just saying there is no indication of what to do... at least, I never saw one.

Well... Tydis has an exclamation point above his head when you pop into the game first off...
It may be a bit of a learning curve but if you talk to him after he give you a few things to do he "asks" you if you want to move on to the next phase.
If you are too low he informs you so, if not he invites you on to the next area and the choice is yours.

I am not implying this about anyone in particular but there are alot of questions asked in game that are really painfully obvious.

A level 8 warrior with a cape asking where the armor merchant was in pre-sear...
The 10,000th person asking how to identify an item...
Someone demanding that we help him find all of his Necro armour...

Take your time and have fun, the game opens up its depth to you very soon.

Understood. It's just a person that is playing (like me) could play for awhile not knowing that talking to Tydis is the "key" to moving on in the game. I mean, I explored all over place wondering if I was ever going to fight mobs at my same level and if I would get some good gear eventually :-)

I am looking VERY forward to exploring now that the game has "started" -- Course all my friends want to play WoW tonight ;-)

Don't forget that there's alot more of land in post-searing, than just the missions! It would be best to do quests and missions as you get them. There will certainly be much better items and upgrades in the GW world as you progress.

Cool -- that gives me hope. I knew that the game isn't anything like WoW and I know it ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE! But it's hard not to compare since I've been playing WoW non-stop for the last two months...

i found tydus right away in beta. the minimum requirement to go into the academy is three, so you had a nice advantage when starting, probably wasted some time though, but that should help you complete the missions quicker.

I left pre-seering at level 3 in April BWE and left at 3 during pre-access. Just run around and get some skills, bags, secondary profession, rez signet. After that it's okay to leave after you get bored with exploring a bit.

LOL! I forgot I never got any bags in Pre-Sear! I got a small pouch or whatever but I never found any bags. Got my rez signet though.

Ok, time to flame, I have explored a ton of south in Pre-Sear but I heard you can go north of the city too... how do you get past the big wall?

You need two people. One hits the switch above the giant locked door and one zones through. That'll pull you both through.

Zone out where the towncryer is. The zone where that annoying girl follows you around. Heh, head to the right and just follow the zonewall until you hit the doors.
