It's worth ID'ing only if you have a mesmer primary or secondary class.

The requirements of a staff have no effect on the mods you get from it. It could have a Staff Wrapping of Enchanting 20% which can be useful to other classes too. If you play any caster in PvP, it would be worth your time to ID it. Otherwise, it's up to you whether or not to ID it to find out what mods are on it.

unid staves for for 10-30k. The "most popular ones" are the ones on the higher end such as Fire Staff, Smiting, Shadow, Raven, Ghostly.

EDIT: My 1st post should have read "if you have a caster" instead of mesmer, since a high end staff upgrade would be nice to ID. So you're right there, I stand corrected.

However, you are essentially gambling a sure 20k+ or more that you have a keeper item or high-end upgrade. I sold a max holy staff for 25k and spikey hammer for 30k... both had super nice stats. However, I've also ID'd lots of junky stuff. Had I played the odds and taken the sure 20k-30k, I would have a lot more gold total.

You can get 25k+ easy on the staff due to its fairly low requirements.
