I love to play in first person mode... except for in the tombs (or in really really hairy pve situations) I would prefer to play in first person all the time... I find it makes the world around me so much more realistic (mostly because to have 3rd person, a major portion of the view is always the ground, in first person 90% of the view is from the horizon up)... the problem is that when I'm in first person the spell effects block about 75% of my vision every time I cast a spell...
Could Anet (if it's not too difficult) please further the incredibly complex level of customization options just one step further and allow us to alter the alpha (transparency) of skill/signet effects and hit effects?

Heh, i tried it a few times, big flashes on the screen every time you get hit kind of detered me from doing it.

exactly... but if you've ever cleared an area of mobs and then jumped into first person you can actually see the incredible detail and beauty of the world these people have crafted... but if restriced to third person we only get to see the beautiful ground...

I agree, although personally I play FPS games in third person because first person is a very limiting view. I hate not being able to see behind me and turning around is a pain... oh well Z button I suppose.
