Is 2 GW accounts worth it?

I went for a second account, too frustrating only have 3 * PvE and all finished game - but still being unable to fill roles for mission (We need a healer...oops, no monk PvE...; we need a tank, oops, no warrior PvE...). Maybe if my first classes hadn't been necro, mesmer and ranger I'd have been less tempted, but this way I have whatever I might need - 7 PvE slots and a PvP slot is fine by me. If they had the option to merge accounts I'd do that most likely, get shared unlocks.

I bought a second account a long time ago, and I don't regret it at all. Of course, I'm not worried about money, so that wasn't a consideration.
But after creating three characters (monk, warrior and a ranger), and saving the 4th slot for pvp, I was kind of stuck. I wanted to be able to play the other professions as a primary account, but didn't want to delete the other accounts as they all have their place in game. Monks (were) great farming accounts, tanks are useful to run guildmates, and the ranger was my first character and I have a lot of emotional attachment to her. Plus, farming in UW is a lot easier with a trapper.
So, I was left with the hard choice of buying a second account to be able to play the remaining character classes (necro, mesmer and elementalist) as primary classes so that I could become more familiar with the skills and builds. I wanted to have a dedicated nuker (air or fire) at the very least, and playing around with a necro and mesmer has been fun too.
I now have seven characters across two accounts, and don't regret it at all. All but one character has finished the game and while doing elona's reach for the 2,000th time can be a bit tedious, I would've done it that many times to help guildies anyway, at least I got to experience missions from different POVs.
Shrug, it's a personal choice.
And yes, I've considered the expansion issues (added costs for two accounts, the extra slots that will be available, etc) and I'll cross that bridge when I get there. If it's worth it, I'll buy two more, it's only money.

Anet just needs to let us buy extra toon slots on our current account.
I'd totaly be down to spend $10 per extra slot on the one account.
But then again I also think they should let us buy gold through them...

I have bought another account too. Feels like Anet has done 4 character slots in purpose. Those who get inside Guild Wars and like it a lot, very likely buy another account so they can use PvP character and all six main professions. There is always some kind of trick in cheap online games with no monthly fee.
Usually you don't have to unclock anything from another account. Maybe it is quicker if you just delete one PvE character from old account and do PvP with it instead new one.

If I have funds, I am consider getting the europe Guild Wars Special edition package for the extrea 30min of new music and the unlock "pack" (some free unlocks via priests). Proable give the account code away to a friend to get him hooked. Spent too much money on collectors ed + pre-order kits via mail order / ebay to get 4 of the 6 pre-order items.
And if you get chapter 2 - there will be more slots.. not sure how many. You would have to buy 2 copies of chapter 2 also.

Hey... I caved and bought a second account for 50 dollars. The unlocks are somewhat annoying, but i really do not play much PVP so I really do not care. What annoys me is... that its a pain to transfer items from one account to another (unless you have 2 computers) So if I find a Ranger weapon on my Non ranger account... Its a total pain to give it to my ranger. I have to wait till a truested guildie signs on.
I hear there are ways to run 2 accounts of GW at the same time with one computer... but I really dont wanna bother with all of that. I will probably end up wrecking my computer.
I wish there was a way you can give items to people when they are not online... This will make my life a lot easier. Maybe if the Guild storage ever comes out I can use that to my advantage.

Heh - everyone is debating the merits of having a second account - I'm debating getting a third!
I kept one slot open on my primary account for PvP characters. I got the secondary account so I could try a character in each class.
So I let one of my daughters create a character in my secondary account, but now I'm debating getting her an account of her own, so I can have mine back.
And if I get the SE, I can use the unlocks for myself.

I'm still yet to finish the game. I got infused and sat back in my chair and said to myself... "This... is... so... boring!" So my other 3 chars are PvP. Whenever I want to change builds, I kill off one char.
Works for me.
How you people managed to ascend seven characters just seems to defy Einstein's theory of time-space continuum.

If I didn't like PvE as much as I do, and if I mainly played PvP, I would probably only have one account, too.

its worth it.

Yeah I agree... If your real into PVP... then prolly not worth it. If your into PVE... then its definitly worth it!
I mean... its only 50 bucks..!! no monthly fees! I can tell you wanna get it... Sometimes you gotta spoil yourslef.
3 accounts might be overkill though.

Consider that if you buy another copy of the game, you will have to buy two copies of each expansion. Also it is worth considering that the character slot issue, like anything else in Guild Wars, is not set in stone and can be changed. It'd be a shame to have an account that you are only using two slots on. There is nothing wrong with Heals or Area of Effect Spells, but they are not so fun that they warrant another account. |

Well like most have said it's a personal decision. I bought a second account only because I ran 4 RPG characters on my first account, and although I could hover over the "delete character" button for a while I could never click it.
Benefits to it are the increased storage space, multiple guilds, extra character slots obviously, and a little more room to nudge things around in PvP.
The only downside I've experienced is that you're back at square one unlocking EVERYTHING. It adds a little more grind, but hopefully you'll be able to have some friends or guildmates able to wiz you back through everything.
It worked well for me, doesn't mean everyone should do it. Just remember, they will have an expansion out in 2-8 months so don't go deleting every PvE character on your account you like unless you want to go back through everything to get to the majority of the new stuff.

Also you could have 1 account based on the amerikan server and the second on the european server.
Both servers play very differently (PvE wise) and you'd have favor 90% of the time .

If you aren't going to PvP, it's good. If you are... then you have to unlock twice...
