in this one, he goes over the february event, talks about impressions of the pre-searing area, attempts at charming a bear *hint* *hint*, and a zerg group build..

He talks about a 8 man ele/ranger build which just outdamages the oponent and pretty much makes healing useless. This problem became evident to me when i did an arena match with a very very high damage group we didnt get beat we played for 3 and a half hours straight then we got tired and had to leave. If we ran into groups with 2 healers or w/Mo groups that normaly are slow take downs we just outdamaged all the healing. Other decently high damge groups would take down 1 or in one case 2 of us befor they were eradicated but nothing could stop us. No battle took more then 1 min most of that time was spent running to the enemy then something like 20-30 seconds of combat.
I just wanted to start the debate on extremly high damage groups and how to counter them. Mabye i should start a new post about this but *shrug* well start here and if it doesnt take off...
My fear is that this could turn GvG into who can take out the other guy first no healing whatsoever.

Draken... was this in the Ascalon Arena (levels 1-10) or the Gladiators Arena (all levels)?
I had a similar experience in the Ascalon Arena with my character, John Swarthing (R/Me)... we lasted so long that it was ridiculous. I leveled up in the arena and so did another player (H A V O K)... so our team was two level 11's, and a level 10... and the other spot switched around a lot, as some people came and left our team. Either way, it was outrageous... we just couldn't be beaten... our Tank was just too strong and I brought down any caster they tried to field. It was good times, but yeah, we got tired after like 3 hours, as you said, and we all agreed to leave after beating one last team, :P.
About the Photics article... I dunno, I really have mixed feelings about this one... it smelled of pure promotionalism, rather than a review of the area. Maybe that's what it was intended to be, but I really took nothing away from the article, personally.
The only interesting point, for me, was his attempt at a group build... which, due to a lack of willing players, didn't pan out.

the only thing this article did for me was make me miss guildwars more :_( god i hope this one doesnt get delayed (march) but im against one profession builds, i think that the more divers your team is the better it will do. and one of my guildmates (weezer) said that he thought the new maps will be one in favor of each profession, so a 1 profession build = 1/6 chances to win. i thought that sounded smart

this was the lvl 20 gladiator arena and granted i know that your fighting groups that arent well balance but we won something on the order of 70 battles in a row without a fight before the group started spliting up. We still managed another 20 more wins with just the orignal 3 before another had to leave but those were a bit closer cause are damage was lower.
In a couple battles i only got one or two spells off. The team could have gone 3v4 for all i did and im sure that they had similar experiences in the battles i managed to do alot of damage.
edit: anway the group was a mix of high damage war, ranger, ele(me) and a mes pbae prebuild. So it was pretty well rounded, they could have blinded two of us and backfired two of us but i think that would have just been a minor inconvinience plus i had some hex removal so...
If they made the counters to damage dealing stonger (easier recast longer lasting) then the game would be more about countering and anti-countering which would decrease the effectiveness of high damage groups.
