Do Something w/ capped faction

I'll keep this short, since it's rather self-explanatory. Faction should not have a cap, plain and simple.

Skill points don't have a cap.

If nothing else, at least let people cash in faction for skill points on a pve character so they're at least being useful for something.

While I realize this doesn't affect most people, I don't like having my or anyone else's faction just going to waste. While I no longer play to get faction, I don't like gaining faction and having it just disappear.

Faction caps out at 10,000 doesn't it? And you trade it in for upgades, runes, and skills(including elites) so I really don't know what you're trying to argue here. You also say that skill points dont cap out. Well that's because they don't need to cap out. There's hundreds of skills on GW and my friend who made a 55 monk told me he has 43 skill points at the moment. And that's from farming the games hardest monsters. There's really no reason why skill points need a cap.

i dont quite understand your problem with faction capping. If the cap's at 10,000 why dont you just spend it all at a priest? Of course if youre a PVP only player you cant get to a priest very easily (why the hell arent the Priests in the arenas?) but i still fail to see the problem.
BTW, I like the idea of useing faction to buy skill points, thatll give those PvE players who occasionally PvP something to spend their faction on.

I think the OP was trying to put across the fact that he feels that faction is wasted on PVE characters. Forgive me if I misinterpreted the post. I have 4 PVE characters and recently began PVP now that theres not much more I can do PVE wise. I gain faction but its useless to me unless I delete one of my characters and build a PVP only character. If I want to experiment with one of my builds, I cant use faction to get new skills and try them out. I have to wander all over the map finding the skills and buy them with gold. I will still unlock skills with faction just in case I do delete one of my characters or more slots become available and I want to create a new PVP only character.

This is fine and dandy but sometimes, as in very rarely, you run into times where you want to put together a build that takes a large amount of unlocking to do. Maybe you skipped something in PvE, maybe you don't play that class often, but at this moment you want to do a build and try it out right now. Unlocking a few skills, an elite, rune(s), and the upgrade(s) that you need to make the character comes close, if not breaks, the 10,000 faction limit.

I have everything unlocked. I have nothing left to use faction on. I know others that have that as well.

We're definitely a small fraction of the people out there, but we shouldn't have a cap on the faction. Now with the permanent faction increase, this is even more frustrating.

Well you can buy everything at the arenas now!

What does that have to do with anything?

I'm saying you should be able to save your faction, so when the expansions come out.. you can use it. Instead of the 10K cap where it just goes to waste if you already have everything.

here's the thing...if you have 239587239542639578000 faction ready for chapter 2, sure you will get everything in 10 minutes of clicking. but then, the game dies down real quick compared to unlocking and experimenting with that new thinger.

No, see... that's not real accurate. If people enjoy pve, they'll still do it. You can have a limitless number of skill points apparently..but your faction is capped. Now people who enjoy pvp, generally rather just have everything unlocked.. not 'unlocking and experimenting with that new thinger'. It seems like if there should be a cap, it should be on the pve. I play pvp to enjoy pvp, but knowing I'm getting something (while other people are too that haven't unlocked everything) that will help me in the future will help me enjoy the pvp much more than it will now if this cap remains.

Bad enough that I unlocked everything in an environment that made it take much longer, but now with a lot more faction being earned.. I'll get none of it?

I'm sure there are other people on here in a similiar situation.

i totally agree with OP.

simple fact is that faction caps are not fun.

just like how "attribute refund caps" were not fun, and now they have been banished from the game

so too should faction caps be banished from the game. simply by virtue of the fact that they are not fun and go against Guild Wars' design philosophy of not putting in things that make the game less fun

in my view the "spending all faction on expansion content" is a moot point. if someone has put the time and effort into the original game in order to amass that much faction, then he should have every right to spend it all on expansion content on day 1 of the expansion.

/sign for removing the faction cap

Yah, that about sums it up. I guess it wasn't really self-explanatory :P.

Anyway, like I said.. now that I have everything, I'm not going out of my way to farm skill points or faction.. but I would at least like to get the faction I earn and be able to keep it. Since there isn't a cap on skill points, I can't see why there should be a cap on faction. It's a similiar thing that will be used in expansions.

Worst case scenario, let us cash in the faction for skill points on our pve characters, so we can 'use' it there. While I'd prefer to have the faction, this would still be better than the current situation.
