ok.... this guy sold me a 6-10 short sword.... the thing is... its got a sundering hilt! 10% chance too! so... i went to extract it... it cant be salvaged.. so is there any way to extract this hilt from the sword?

What you got was most likely a Short Sword that was a reward from a Quest or a Short Sword from a collector. Anyhow, you can't salvage them ever. Sorry, but that's how it works.
