Due to new patch
Beramee
Due to the new patch, many items have or may drop in price, but don't sell your nice golds to the trader just yet.
I just want to clear one thing up for people, "Green" items are available from Sorrows Furnace bosses, so these while rare in there existence so far, will become common. The reason for these green godly drops is to allow PVE players a decent chance of playing in PVP with thier respective PVE players and to allow players to have decent weapons at thier earned LVL20 without having to aquire alot of money.
BUT so far I have not seen any evidence that these items (greens) will be the likes of Crystaline Swords etc, they will be common items (as far as I can tell), such as recurve or composite bows, but with max stats.
So don't be disheartened if your trying to sell nice gold items, these will still fetch decent prices, and so they should.
Mods/Admins, this may be in the wrong area, but I post here for the fact that sellers/buyers may not view the multitude of other threads in this forum. I am sure this will be moved deleted, but I just wanted traders to understand the logic of the new drop system.
Trading for me, has kept me playing GW as its always a rush to find that "Godly" item that is of no use to me, but be able to sell it for alot of money to purchase something I can use.
Peace.

Yes, this is all very true and I hope that Gold items still retain their value. Its the same with collectors items and gold items, say a.. 15>50 Ascalon Bow Req 9, it looks and does the same as a long bow, but the price difference is about 50k+
Masar
yes i agree
Green Items are just like PvP weapons all upgrades on there are perfect
you CANNOT add mods to it
and CANNOT salvage ANY mods from the Green Items either....from my experience anyways
and their skins are crap...
so I believe Gold items like fellblade, crystaline etc... still hold their value.
EDIT: ok it seems there are various different skins....none that i know are like.....flamberg longsowrd fell or crystaline.....
but I agree if theres a sword with a diff name and is a rare skin i rather get that

has anyone seen a 15%>HP green item? i havent. seen a bunch of in stance and while enchanted.
TuckerT
The fiery dragon sword that Tanzit weilds is 15-22 Dmg, 15% over 50, and Health +30. Dropped on a run not too long ago, but some Necro got it.
Mignon
The perfect items that we used to pay 192983892 Ectos, are now worth nothing
pearhk
Can we salvage those Green Items ?
JBak
any news on 16/-2/45 hp shield yet (while enchanted)?
Mistress Nocturnal
SirHavoc Where did it drop ?
hobbitshd
yeah.... pay 600g and get a purple/gold drop EVERY TIME....
They made it WAY TOO EASY to find nice items... what advantage does that gold bow you found 2 days ago have now.....NONE.
EVERYONE will have a great weapon shortly, NO MATTER WHAT.
The rune market is Toast, Gone, Non-existent.
Green items... BAH... they are basically collectors items now.
I really loved to find purple items, and to find a GOLD ITEM WAS AWESOME, i found over 10 purple/gold in about 20 minutes last night. So I am assuming that the trading market will be flooded/turned to crap also.
Love the new areas/Hate the drop changes

Drops are quite odd now. Last night for like 15 min. I got every single drop and others in my group got zilch in SF.
Too bad they were all crap.
Too bad they were all crap.

The Green Items shouldn't change the market a WHOLE lot. The people with the money to purchase the Sephis Axes and Crystaline Swords are still going to do so. You just won't have the people that dont have the money wishing they could afford one now. The biggest drop is going to be with mid range Gold items now, as 14>50 req 10 sword just wont cut it anymore. I, personally, wish to see all the Green Items.

the pruple or gold drops, from what i have found from the chests all have high req. so you can keep them or sell them at a deflated price. i really like these additions. and hope they stay around for a long time
Con Quessso
ive gotten a handful of 12-13 req stuff from chests and one level 9 req hornbow. So I think you can get low req stuff, just still a bit rare.
LaGar
From my experienced, everytime i open chest i get purple..(SO COMMON). Gold still hard to get and GREEN.... farm at new location for 5 hrs and i get one. Are they RARE? YOU bet my azz they are.... So if any1 are intersted of my Graygore's short bow (GREEN) can check my post. Mods are:
GRaygore's Short bow
(9) Req.
Max dmg
15% heath above 50%
5/1
Markmanship +1 20%

I suspect that there will be a little while that the Greens are quite valuable. I'll buy any green stormbows you guys get . . .
In about 3 weeks, greens will be as useless as most everything else is right now. That was the trend anyway, but its kind of sad that things that were truly unique like my perfect 16/45/-2 enchanted tall shield may become more common, even if green instead of gold.
I think the patch kind of "dumbed down" Guild Wars a touch: get all your regular skills in Ember Camp so you don't even have to think or try to get to remote locations; get flawless items in PvE even without playing the market or learning the subtleties of the game, etc. In some ways, it gives new missions and short term content, but seriously undermines the long term incentives of the game, and while a commendable effort, will probably be a step in the wrong direction in the end for a long term player base. Without a great market and some truly challenging long term goals (unlocking everything, which became too easy to do on a single character last night), the only reason to keep playing is for the new content, which will only be new for a couple of weeks at most, and fresh content won't come that fast.
Here is what would have been cool: For 25 rubies and 25 sapphires, a smith deep in sorrow's furnace would have turned one of your perfect gold items into a green item named after you! What would people have paid to buy Lady Blue Steel's Longsword or Tall Shield or Nef's Chaos Axe or Storm Bow? That would have been cool, provided a money sink, and improved the economy . . .

Can you customize a Green item? I understand from the above threads that you cannot add modifications or salvage, but can you have the weaponsmith customize it to you to provide the extra 20% damage? If not, then I can understand why they would hold less value. If you can, though, then I will be gladly paying money for one since I couldn't care less about how rare an item is vs. it's performance.
Kind of off topic, but I don't understand why people prefer to use a Gold weapon with worse stats than a collector one. Do you prefer to watch a rare TV over one with a better picture? I guess you could argue it is a question of style over substance, but do people really pay attention to what weapon someone else is using? I know I haven't. Playing most of the time as a Monk I can tell you that I have yet to see a Rod that I thought was better than the collector one I use yet I see lesser Gold ones sell for lots of money all the time. Am I the only one who thinks this is strange?

too bad the guys at Anet didn't think of it earlier...

With all the talk of 'everyone' now having access to great items and many not really enjoying that idea I just felt then eed toremind everyone of the mission statement of this game.
They're simply trying to make it easier to get these items because one of the foundations the game is built on is that someone SHOULDN'T have to slave away farming for hours a day just to afford great items/weapons/armors/runes/etc.
The idea behind the game is to make it approachable for new players and they have consistantly patched the game to that end.

umm, since when has it been hard to get goo items???? collectors have had perfect ones, and a +5 armor and ele hilt will make a great collectors item....

I know it sucks... I just payed a whole lot for my rare air staff two days ago.
It was max dmg, req. 9 and improves cast speed: 9%, improve skill recharge 10%. its 1% off perfect and i spent like 100k on it. Now, I see a perfect 10/10 green staff, but I think it was a necro staff or something. Anyways, I hope there are no green air staffs/fire staff so mine will still rock. Or if there are, I hope they sux! =P
Speaking of customizing items with your name:
"Queen Alesia's Holy Rod"
or "Queen Alesia's Smiting Staff"
So COOL!!

Awesome idea. It would be even better if there was a little place to put a story-ish paragraph under the stats area when you mouse-over the item, to in effect explain the history of these items.
