Vault (and Bank) Suggestions
Mentioned elsewhere is the suggestion of expanding the vault size -- along with adding quests for vault add-ons, etc.

I searched briefly and most likely it has been brought up, but I just wanted to emphasize that vaults should be able to hold money as well. If not the vaults, then have a Bank to hold money. Last night, I started collecting funds from the guild members so that we could all pitch in and purchase our guild cape (and later, our guild hall). Since I have to carry the money mixed in with my own personal money, I have had to jot down on my post-its the names of those who have donated, and how much. I'd like to store the money safely somewhere just so I won't "forget" and spend the money, then worry about re-earning it.

Guild Suggestions
1. Include more info about the guild members -- some sort of locate option, info regarding their current professions & level, maybe even their current log-on playtime & date joined, just for random curiousity's sake. Also include the /whisper option (as is on the friends list).
2. Very minor, but maybe increase the character limit on guild announcements. I've stuck in the announcement the URL of our forums, as well as our Teamspeak channel information, and then I run out of space to leave a brief note regarding any current agendas (ie: mission meetup times, collecting money for guild cape/hall, etc.)

Post Office
I would really love to see implemented some way to send messages to other players for a small fee. The post office would offer three options:
1. Check/Retrieve Mail
2. Send a letter (for a fee of 5 gold -- letters would be just to send simple text messages to other users, whether online or offline)
3. Send a package (for a fee of 10-20 gold -- packages would include a letter, as well as up to maybe 5 or 6 attachments: items and/or money)

yeah, being able to send items to people is very nice. i dont see any other way to transfer items. like if you want to scrap your player and make a new one but still keep your stuff. i have also seen many questions like where the vault of place to store you items. i know it would require alot more server space but a vault would be really nice.

Those are some good suggestions and I agree. There needs to be some way to leave an someone a message that is offline.

Just a note, vaults are stored across account, (i think), so if you put an item in a vault on one char, log on as the other and access the vault, those items should be there.

And, OP, i agree with a lot of what you said, some good ideas there.

The first vault access you'll get is in Post-Searing, they're on a hill by the traders, and they have (storage) in their title.

I like this idea, maybe shouldn't be fees for sending IMs. I'm not going comment on the little details. That would bring some nice features when people aren't online. Minus the fees, no fees! I mean no fees! I'm tired of all these damn fees! Fees, give me nightmares you hear me? Down with the fees!

Well, normally I don't mind fees either, but I figure that it is a service. I tried out the WOW beta, and I remember they had a fee for their post office service.. although, in FFXI there was no charge for sending items, just a limit as to how many items the NPC could hold for you (8). So perhaps instead of fees, there could be a limit -- like the post office can only hold 10 msgs & 5 items or something, which you must retrieve so you can receive more mail.

I like the post office idea.
Not everyone has a guild forum or other mean of messagins his friends, and if the friend isn't on he same guild, there's really nothing to do if (s)he's offline. Sharing email adresses with someone we don't really know is not an option (there are exceptions, of course)

Sending a package with items inside might bring up new issues, like, which storage room would these packages ocupy, what to to if the recipient has a full inventory, how to prevent abuse and avoid exploiting to "increase" one's inventory space, what to do it recipient doesn't recieve the package, etc.

On the other side, the letter/email system is a simple concept and would undoubtfully prove usefull.
I agree with a fee per letter, as it would prevent abuse, and spamming.

This is how I picture a letter sending feature:
  • A letter would be limited in length, and could include a picture of the sender's character that is sending the letter.
  • We'd have an aditional tab on the chat pannel. This tab might be accessible only through a mouse click, to prevent entering the tab by accident, when typing on another channel. If, wether by accident or a sudden need, we selected another tab, the state should be preserved when returning here.
  • It would have fields showing the message fee and remaining character count, a send button, and read button (more on read bellow)
  • A drop down box would allow to choose every friend and guildie, regardless of their online/offline status. Aditionally, we could also enter the name of anyone else by hand.
  • Since there is a send button, ENTER produces new lines, instead.
  • Checking the name of the recipient gives servers more work than with whisper, because ALL names needed to be checked, worldwide, instead of online names. So, to decrease the impact on server load, recipient verification could be postponed and the message would bounce if the recipient didn't exist. Bounced messages should be charged as well, to prevent server abuse...
Clicking the read button (or inbox, or "show-me-my-mail", or whatever ) takes us to the inbox view. In inbox view the "inbox" button would change to write or compose.
  • The inbox would have a limited room for messages, say, 20 messages.
  • Entering Inbox would show the message list. Each message in the list would have an icon for read/unread and the sender's name. A click (or double click?) opens the message for reading.
  • Delete could be done only on the message view, to ensure that it would be open before deleted.
The ignore list would serve to ignore letters from users put in there as well.
They could be ignored altogether, or some other mean could be provided to still read them. Ignoring them completely is fine with me

To notify a player of an unread message, the chat bar could blink, or something like that. Adding more elements to the game UI is bad (I like the landscape a lot )

If we had this feature, sending items by mail would no longuer be a big need because we would be able to contact the recipient and arrange a time and place to do the trade.

I like the post office idea, I think it would improve communications between guild members, and also allow for people to apply for guild invites possibly.

Sounded a bit WoWish when you can send gold and items through the mail.

I sign just for some kind of off-line messaging.

Not necessarily a very formalized Post Office, but a manner to send a message to an off-line player; I miss this feature from when I was playing in the World of Warcraft. I do not miss the feature for sending items.

I sign this idea within my bigger plead for better means of communication between players ingame, particularly in reference to players - guilds relations.

Being the only person on my account, I can pass items and money to my other characters through the Storage Agents. Two of my characters are solely additional storage.

Character A makes a deposit and Character B withdraws the item.

I have an additional 45 (?) spaces that way.

well, what about the in guildhall message board?
can hold messages from fully accepted members (not guest invitees)

also, i hear they are supposed to be implementing sometime soon(soon, sheesh, sounds good but can mean from now till doomsday with some peeps)
the Guild Stash (sepearte from account based, its a stash for th Guild itself)
which might be able to be used as a bank....still they have to get the rulkes inplace for that befor the implement (to stop guilds gettng their stuff nicked by a greedy memeber...yeah, i know a lot of guilds have trusted peeps, but sometimes temptation can be too much...)

I think that they should have a place in your guild hall that allows you to buy/sell weapons, i know in factions you can get a weapons customizer but it would be cool to have a guy that can get you the weapons. Also (this is kinda off topic) i think that the merchants should not have the same stuff 24/7 if you sell something to them someone else should be able to buy it

Wow, that's quite an old thread that's been dug up, but the suggestions are still good. I would love to see a mail system of some kind!
