No, the Guild Lord stays in your base, while the rest of the NPC's rush to the center of the map. It's intended to end teams who can hold off their opponents with the help of all the NPC's at the guild lord, but can't make a successful push to drive the enemy away. The NPC's leave, and then the match is up to team a versus team b + GL rather than team a versus team b + GL + 2 arcanists + 4 archers....
