No point in playing the game now but pvp, before there was actually a point in killing monsters like the chance to get a godly gold item with perfect stats :O, but now there's actually no point in pve, but to get mindless endless exp. With these green items, the economy will fall for sure, what's the point of a game without pve and it's all pvp? the only thing left to do is pvp. They should had only added new weapons instead with different graphics but instead they add perfect green weapons that everyone can get. i thought u can make ur character unique in guild wars? but how can u when everyone is almost wielding the same weapons without a achievement of getting a godly weapon and showing it off . Most people inspire of one thing in a game, to be rich and to have the best looking char , now i suppose a-net wanted this game to be unique, but what's the point of killing monster's when there is no demand for items no more?

It has never been my aspiration in a game to be rich or have the best looking character. My purpose in a game is to have fun. The green weapons in no way make the game any less fun.

Uhm?
You've still got to kill the monsters first, you've still got to buy (or farm) the keys. The only thing that has been taken out of the game is the reason for a rampant economy. And that was actually one of their best decisions to do. Boohoho, someone can't sell his +25 health mod for 200 plat anymore...

And actually, i find farming in Grenths Footprint (even with a full team) much much more enjoyable than everywhere else in Tyria. Thumbs up for the patch, thumbs up for the chests, thumbs up for the green items. Took out a LOT of boring grind and exchanged it with fun grind.

I'd prefer they work on the combat graphics and combat mechanics, and make killing monsters more fun to watch and play. I dont care at all about the stuff that you get. I care about getting more skills, but that's only because its fun to use new skills on monsters.

Oh, and working on the monster AI also makes them more fun to kill.

Thats my argument as well. Selling with probably not occur unless the item is a perfect fellblade/crystaline.

*Stops reading there*

No but seriously, ANet has NEVER wanted to court people the godly/uber crowd. Collector's Items have existed for quite some time with perfect stats.

It's always been a matter of getting the perfect mods.

PvP chars got the advantage there with the faction system, and could easily unlock any weapon mod at max stats. PvE players were at a disadvantage because of this.

Rare weapons were made more common in general, and now there're green items.

Green items are the same as a collector's item; Once the mods go on, you can't get them off. And these mods were pre-set.

How many people would choose a +7 vs phsyical (max shelter mod) over a +5 general defence (max defence mod)? Well, if you want that green item's other mods, you have to settle.

In the end, there never were, and never will be godly items, and all that's been done is made it a more level playing field for unlocking and finding weapons and items between PvP and PvE players.

Crystalline fellblades and storm bows haven't changed. Fiery dragon swords haven't changed. Collector's items haven't changed. Somehow, I think there will still be a market for items advertised 'uber' and 'godly' regardless of what changes the game goes through.

the green weps are for casual players. maybe they actually meant skill>time(lol).
i was excited about the update, but then i remembered it was just more hours of mindless grind, whats the real point.

the update still wasn't that bad:
skill refunds now gone(yay)
trial members ships into guild is always cool to meet new people.

pve is okay, but i was hoping for more depth, not more grind. hopefully in the expansion they'll include puzzles, where it just isn't follow point a to point be. make it like more like zelda(fun game).

i mean the new quests are challenging but its the same as all other quests just more difficulty. i believe that puzzle games would add a new dimension to the game. i mean come on the story line so far sucks beyond egzivln(random). it shouldn't be be pve it should be a adventure game.

Actually, it's exactly what they needed to do to help keep this "casual" game designed for "causal" gamers so that all have an equal chance to have decent equipment and no 1 person has all the uber items and millions in gold...power gamers need not apply...go back to EQ. Not everyone has no life with hours of time to play and farm for the rare items that they can price gouge the rest of the community with.

/cheer for the patch

This has already been talked about too much

Horses for courses.

I'm glad that golds aren't as rare as what they were before the patch. It solves a lot of issues for players, and makes traders asking for silly money have to think again about why they're playing the game.

There was already too much hype over gold items, and this thing with the chest does a great job of readressing the balances.

Of course, there will always be someone who will spam the trade channel in LA offering Godly gold items,(or green items), but the long and short of it now is that people have more opportunity to get their "Godly" items for themselves, and won't feel so bad about selling gold stuff to merchants if it's not the weapon for them.

Flashz - I think you need to readdress exactly what a "godly gold" drop is - It's a weapon with a few mods and some yellow lettering. It's not an excuse to try to fleece 50k-250k+ectos from some mug who buys his money off Ebay, and it never has been either.

Sorry to hear you just lost your customers, BTW.

Didn't you guys complain about the 'grind' of this game, and how rediculous some of these items costs, regardless of the fact that just about anyone can go make a pvp character, and stock him up with basically a perfect weapon free of cost (emphasis on free)

I think I like this. I mean, the whole gist of this game is on skill rather than time. Now that every person regardless of being compitent or not can get their hands on just about any item as easy as anyone else, the only difference would be skill. Rather than 15%>50 perfect damage swords that no one bothers to customize, when a clean max dmg weapon that is customize would net an even greater damage bonus (20% damage always). Or +30 fortitute mods when shelters are obviously superior, or pay dozens of more plats for weapons that merely 'look' better than another sword with the same exact stats. When in the end, all that awesome gear won't make THAT much of an impact.

I just don't know. Maybe people still have their minds in a place where high end gear and cookie cutter builds = wins.

Oh well. D:

The economy was already screwed up by people selling things at exhorbitant prices... and when it wasn't uber then it would not sell at all... it's not Anet fault's by any mean, green items are here for players that play the game whithout farming to have a chance to drop a perfect weapon.

go ahead and not play at all. i'm sure we'll all miss you.its a game, not something that you should spend your time on making oodles of money. if you want that go play a tycoon game or better yet monopoly.

I Agree with the original poster. A-net is promoting communism, or at least wealth redistribution to the casual gamer who has little as far as time invested in getting gold in game. It seems that now, you don't have to put much at all into getting uber items, besides spend some money on keys and kill some bosses in SF/GF. If they do infact espouse this method of reward for doing hardly anything and redistributing to the hardly active, the same methods in real life would sure put them out of business and quick. So reward your laziest workers and remove all incentive for working hard. Lowering the bar for everyone means there is no excellence to strive for, and as such, this patch is a failure of grand proportions.

For the mods they have, and to be fair to all the non-bot farmers who have gone before who have put in thousands of man hours farming to find not only items for themselves but others, Green items should have a drop rate of .001%. That or find the common drop rate for perfect items by class and duplicate those item drop rates for greens ( plus make them even rarer still after that since they are green ).

This game was never supposed to be about wealth and uber-whatevers. Now the playing field is levelled and the game back on track to it's design and intent.

This is good.

Bad for the eBay crowd... but good for the game.

wow. so many people like to grind. is that what you do all day. log on go to uw fow sf and kill countless monsters. if so, your better than a bot. you have to relize that this game offers no real roleplaying experience except for the mindless grind that already our state of mind.
