Yeah, so yesterday i downloaded the new sorrows furnace patch, and right after I restarted the client, it downloaded it and everything, I logged in fine and chose my character and pressed play, and it started loading the map and everything , and right when it hit 100%, the game closes
Now guild wars support says to updage my video/audio drivers which i did, and it still had the same problem.
But earlier today i tried running the game without a program called xfire (in game messaging program) and it WORKED. I tried to make sure that xfire was the problem and sure enough, whenever i start the game with xfire running the game crashes and without it, it loads just fine.
Is anyone else having this problem, and have any solutions to it besides not running xfire while playing Guild Wars?

only changes are that im using the Catalyst drivers now instead of the Omega drivers.

yeah, i had a similar problem after the 1.62 and 1.63 patches for neverwinter nights....
befor those patches, my machine was happy to run the game with firewall and anti-virus running, but after, i couldnt even get the game to start from the CD...
i was doing the headless chicken routine, and was just about to try looking ofr a no-cd (my last resort, btw) when i remembered someone on a forum saying that when he turned off his anti-virus, his game worked....
so i turned off one, then the other and bingo, game loaded up...
(and i had no new drivers, nor new dirX ether)
so, looks like you will have to keep it turned off, or find something that does the same job, but isant the xfire.
is it a typeing or a verbal messanger service?
you might try that roger wilco thing if its verbal or the teamspeak
if its type, consider trying your normal message services like msn and yahoo and aim.
or, get a hands free phone? unless its overseas or you would get fried when the phone bill arrives...

basically like AIM or MSN, only desgined for gamers, and you can actually chat in game. Its suppost to work for all games, but not it seems not to work with guild wars now... very odd

maybe the latest patch nerfed it.

my neverwinter nights problem was solved about 2 patches later, and my firewall/anti-virus were back up again...just lucky theres nothing of interest on my machine back then...-^.^-

I had that same problem yesterday when I decided I'd run Xfire alongside Guild Wars, so it's not just on your machine.
