Hello all,
Well, I have an interesting issue that is bugging the crap out of me. Whenever I try to manipulate an item in my inventory screen, the game and my computer crash, I get placed on a blue screen with a giant error message that I cannot read because then it immediatly restarts my comp. When it is done restarting, I get an error message saying that "Windows has recovered from a serious error." It only happens when I am in my inventory and only when I try to equip or move an item there. I can view the items and run the mouse over them to see the descriptions, but the second I click, down goes my comp and the game.
I am running a laptop with a 1.3GHz celeron processer and an intel extreme graphics 2 82822/82855 64mb graphics card and 48mb ram. I have 18.2 gb free on the hard drive and I just updated my drivers for the graphics card tonight.
Now I thought it might be the graphics card, and this is why. Along with the crashes, I have extreme graphical gliches in the inverntory menu only whenever I try to move things. First the graphics get all crazy, then crash. It totaly sucks.
The rest of the game works fine and I havent had any other problems. So please, help me out...I really want to play...

THanks

Do you really only have 48mb of ram? If that's the case then I don't even see how you're able to play GW at all. Some Laptop graphics cards aren't fully supported by Arena Net yet.

When I installed the game on my laptop which uses an integrated Intel chip it popped up a message saying the card wasn't supported. I installed anyway and it seems to work fine. That being said I have 768MB of ram and my processor is a 1.6 centrino.

well, definetly the amount of ram, i agree 48 and how you can play just stumbles me lol, but remember and ALWAYS remember this, laptops heat up VERY VERY fast, that could also be another cause, is your system getting way too overheated, my suggestion would be to find a laptop cooler at www.newegg.com or something.

Well, first off, let me say I totaly gooffed. I have 480 ram, not 48. I don't know what happened there...also, it was not the laptop that overheated, it was the power recharge cable. The laptop was/is not any hotter than normal. However, the power recharge cord got so hot I almost burned myself when I touched it. Anyway, anyone else but me and the one other person have this problem? Anyone with the same video card able to run it fine? let me know....please....

Are you sure your laptop isn't overheating because I had the exact same problem with my laptop and it turned out to be a ventilation problem. My laptop would simply turn off when it reached a certain temperature. Trying putting a fan next to your laptop and check if the problem persists.

Instead of putting a fan, you can vaccum all the dust from your fans like I did - that fixed my graphical lag problems on games.

thank you so much dragondai, I thought I was alone.

Same GFX card, windows XP, 480 ram, pentium 4 2.8 ghz

It is very very frustrating. I am NOT overheating - I held my laptop in the air in front of my fan and kept my plug suspended in the air. I want to play this with no problems, please please help us.

When it crashes it flashes a blue screen with a long error message in white text very briefly before it restarts.

I am having the same problem. I can confirm is isn't overheating. The laptop crashes the instant I move an item in my inventory. The rest of the game runs smoothly and I have yet to encounter another problem.

Edit: It should be noted I can still equip items by double-clicking them, so if I am very careful this bug can be avoided.

Edit2: Argh, the same problem occurs when selling items to merchants (The item is sold, then you crash). Havent found a way around this one yet.

Uh i doubt that his laptop is overheating from playing this game. Especially when he says its only when he uses his inventory.

Also it most likely isnt over heating because i play on a laptop ( 2.8 ghz, 1028 mb RAM, GoForce 5700 mobility) and my comp never over heats.

I am also on a Toshiba Satellite. Problem is persisting.

I can occassionally equip items without having the problem, but I believe double clicking to equip gives me the crashes as well. I will go check... It has happened to me when I simply attempted to move the item as well.

I just crashed while double clicking to equip.

Another (more minor) problem, is that when the terrain settings are anything above low, I see the different layers of textures in square patterns. I don't really care about that because I can leave terrain on low, but the crashing thing is really horrible. Another note, equiping items while in town has not crashed me yet - only when in the fighting area.

EDIT: It also just crashed in town when I tried to equip a wooden buckler for the first time. It seems to crash more frequently on first time equips...

It seems to crash the second time you manipulate an item after startup.

That is not true for me... it seems to happen when it pleases.

The last crash took me over 10 restarts to recover from... I like the game too much to stop though. Please someone aid us...

I think this is an issue with the onboard intel extreme graphics chipset. you may be able to explore some alternative drivers. I have seen a few listed here and there on the board. There isn't much a solution for someone on a laptop though. There usually no option to change the onboard device.

I have read simlar reports of failures of this kind associated with this video system.
