If you think Planescape:Torment or even Pen and Paper is the epitome of rpgs, think again. Live Role Playing Games are the epitome of rpgs. No statistics! Dress in silly costumes! Frolic through the woods!

hey marky, what persistant worlds did you design for NwN?
(asking cause i would go look at them in nwvalt or online, longtime player of rr:nordock ^^)
My PWs aren't really up anymore, I haven't played the game in years. I only gave a few suggestions to Three Town, one of the more popular PWs

But to give a general idea on how I worked DnD economy, I created the following gold sinks in my PW, Sacrifice PW:

- High crafting costs
- Paying a tax to get inside a MAJOR city, based on your level
- Trainers that cost a lot of cash. You needed a trainer in order to level.
- Food and water rations, yet another gold sink (you just need them, the game ate automatically)
- Teleportation costs, high
- Higher prices for magical items. Mundane remained the same

Even though it wasn't big and lasted around six months, a lot of people really liked the economy of my PW.

Each time you killed a creature, you get a gold based on the amount of xp right away. Item drops were static (A limitation in NWN at the time, unless you wanted a reallybad random item drop).

by having upgradeable guild halls will encourage farming to get enough money to upgrade it Depends on the cost. Many guilds already 'farm' sigils, and there is four character slots.

It's just a small suggestion to seperate guilds from each other besides a guild hall.

Suggestion to Anet - If anyone from Anet is reading this, I know a good way to suggest Gold sinks for Guild halls. Upgradable guild lords, archers, and defences. You can level your footman from level 20 to 21 for <insert cost here>. You can replace an archer with a fire or air. This way, it would allow a guild to totally customize their guild hall to their specific strategies and an excellent way for gold to be spent. It would also require GvG builds to be very diverse, instead of the cookie-cutter FOTW.
Please no. I want GvG as fair as possible, I don't want people who spend more time farming to have such an advantage.

Quote:
There is a skill trainer with all the skills now in the fire chains. NO WORK IS INVOLVED IN GETTING SKILLS
Besides the argument you gave, they still cost skill points. The only "work" that was removed was the process of running to some remote outposts. Whoop dee do. They saved us an hour per character, maybe!

Quote: - Random 16vs16 Relic runs You realize that Monks would be almost useless in such a setting, right?

Quote:
- A mission that requires you to defend the fort as long as possible. The longer you last, the higher the rewards from mobs and the level. With Randomization, this would be awesome. Maybe even a leaderboard.

- Nerf "I will avenge you" and Ether Renewal. People are avoiding tombs for a reason. Ether Renewal needs a nerf. Avenge does not. Don't kill the pets, kill the necros over and over, use Aegis/Guardian/Sympathetic Visage/Soothing Images/Ward Against Melee, and life is good. Also note that when their Necros go down, they no longer have healing. Why aren't you bringing anti-Warrior stuff to Tombs anyway?

I agree with everything else you brought up, I think.

If there is a DEMAND for perfect items then the prices will be higher. Look at Runes. Before the Rune Traders, Runes sold for 10 times what they sell for now. When they added the Rune Traders and flooded the market, the prices dropped. Supply < Demand = High Prices

Hi, MarkyX,

We are reading, you can be sure of it. Thanks your comments and excellent suggestions, too! The idea of guild hall customization and other meaningful "gold sinks" is quite valid, in my opinion. I have a long list of personal "hope for's" and I know many others do as well. As for the Tombs comment, we'll consider changes but will look critically at the Big Picture to assure that any adjustments are truly necessary and well-assessed.

Thanks again for the feedback. And the support.

Wrong again. The green items, while badass, cannot be modded or customized. Green items can be customized. I got the one I wanted and customized it today. They might also be moddable as I tried to apply a different component and it gave me the warning do I want to replace the component... I didn't try it though because I like it the way it is.

What a self-centered thought. I'd suppose you'd have it everything is farmable in one secret location and a small cartel of morons knows about it and charges 200k for things so they can feel big? Gimmie a break, it's a game, and people deserve to get something out of it, not a small group of folk that did something again and again the devs warned you was not going to last.

It's all peripheral, and GW wasn't meant to be that type of RPG that allows people to get off by repeating actions. But, of course, the people who think that it was supposed to be that kind of game are pissed off now.

Being disillusioned is a ****, eh?

This is why threads die, not because of hate back and forth, but from hate back and forth that is incomprehensible to read from any grammatically sound standpoint.

The OP is flawless, and so is the game.

Anyway, I think the grand design here is that GW was meant to become what the devs deem a less time-leeching game (Skill dictates status, etc.). A lot of posters are pissed off at the people that are saying things like, "go play WoW if you want that kind of grinding", thinking those people are simply shoving away the problem. They aren't, really; they bring up a valid point. Guild wars was never intended to be the obsessive/compulsive man's dream, its not-so-underlying message is that all gamers, casual and dangerously-involved, should be given a chance at being good at an RPG.

Of course, you still need to spend a LOT of time to get your character cranked up to that "elite" tag, but not as much as you would in, say, Diablo 2.

Oh, and, I like commas.

Not, Get, Nerfed, Otherwise, Wouldn't, Anet, Have, Nerfed, It, In, The, Sorrow's, Furnace, Update,?

Ether Renewal/Smiting is now being countered. Well of Profane, shutdown Mesmers, God knows what. IWAY was also a counter, that became popular. Now IWAY builds are being countered, Spiteful Spirit, don't kill pets etc.

This isn't going to make people stop bitching, but for God's sake, stop bitching people.

first off i have found nothing in the the "OLD" areas besides UW that has changed. the chest are an added bonus now accually dropping good stuff instead of endless junk. UW wasn't ment to be soloed so the put a mes there which guess what really stops nothing if you know how to deal with it. UW can still be soloed and don't ask me how cuz i'm not telling. you can solo every place in the game you could before just need to figure out how. i've even been soloing the "NEW" areas. anet knows what they are doing but sometimes i think they know people do want to solo so they leave it open and make it a huge challenge. its enough challenge to stop the bots but not the players.

green weapons are great and i love them very much. i fight for the little guy that has jack asking for money to buy himself new armor. glad to see anet listened to the little guy and evened the playing field.

greens will not gap the bridge between pvp and pve simply because i can hold the item on one of my pve characters and pass it to my pvp via guild member.

guess i'm just an innovator because i have not seen any suggestions only complaints.

The UW can still be soloed. All the rest of the areas of the game, not so much. It's not possible to solo, say, Sorrow's Forge. Because there are counters to every single class, and most conceivible farming builds. Anyway, all these variations of "I know but, conveniently, I won't tell you" are getting irksome.

So... how are you an innovator? Sucking up and not adressing issues other people have brought up are both sought after, I know, but those aren't exactly innovations.

CS Lewis wrote a book about christianity. Now while i am not a christian myself he raised a very interesting view point which could have some relevance here. He was Talking about Pride, And while i wont bore you all to death quoting literature at you, the basics of the prose were as follows.

Pride is the biggest sin. Its easy for someone to say they arent proud, they just like these things, but ask why they like them? Is it nessecary, in this case, to have all those weapons, gold, Items? How do they improve your game? Other then, of course, give you power over others. So in actual fact your not proud of the items, hard work you put in, or even that you are making money in a decent way because alot of "farmers do it solo..who sees that achievement? You are proud your better then someone.

But well see the thing is this...IMO your not better then that "n00b" you just sold the fiery dragon sword to. Given the chance he could be twice the guy/girl/farmer/player/PVPer you are, he is just lazy. a simple fact that you enjoy exploiting.

When i started on these forums i read a few posts where people were saying, "we give away loads" and i believe them. I do it too. Give away my loot from farming, maybe keep the runes or the cash so i can buy that armor from droknors. I have seen a guildie do a griffin run and give it all away. IMO that is farming for enjoyment. To show how good his character, and even be proud of his achievement. But to do it, just to sell, is to be proud that your better then others. Dont get me wrong, i am sure selling stuff and farming floats your boat, and your not hampering my game at all just my two cents.

I agree with alot of this about farming for fun /unlocking items for pvp or
even just unlocking the items because they are there to be unlocked really!

For me it's mostly about goals, goals that i set myself because i have a guide
and a big ass list of items to unlock, runes, upgrades, weapons to find etc etc.

I have enough money to buy probably anything in the game but i do not want to
buy anything, I feel happy knowing that i only have 3 superior runes left to unlock
out of the once Huge list that i had when i started, the list goes on and on really.

What im saying is that alot of the people complaining in this thread and many
others seem to have put all farmers in a category, a bad category of some kind.

"Money Grabbers" "Scammers" all sorts of names and categories for some
unknown to me reason alot of you here dont like solo'ers and farmers?

I farm /unlock /collect because thats what i enjoy doing, after completing
the "current" game with four characters i dont want to do it again just yet
so i will be working on new skill setups for myself and friends to continue to
solo and work with together in areas so that we can continue to unlock &
collect items and materials etc etc...

I practicaly sell everything thats of no use to me and to my friends, guild
members etc to the merchant, i even find myself regular shouting out in
lions arch asking people if they want a free minor vigor or a +5 armour
peice for their sword etc, it's of no use to me and i dont want or need
the money from traders or the merchant so might aswell give it away.

I dont see nothing wrong with that?

Big misunderstanding on the Greens, everyone of them is a copy of a collectors Item in the game, I have seen each green Item my necro uses at a collector. OK not an exact copy sometimes but with a mod or two they can be. Uber weapons LOL thats a joke never seen one and dont want one. I farm and kill tons of Critters none are "easy" especially as a necro whos max damage off their weapon is 22 pts. yeah I can cast and hammer while I suck the life out of them but that isnt easy by a long shot. I like the way ANet has set the last bit on farming the greens in the Furnace, LOL I have made runs where not a single green dropped. This is nice, the green flood slows to a grind meanwhile those of us who did farm early and stockpiled what we got sell at a more reasonable price. No I never agreed that 100K+30 ectos was a decent price, again too I never sold a single item at that inflated and disgustingly bloated price. I have sold Brohns Rod staff or Stoneheart for 35K but never the UNSEEMLY 100+K. But once again Anet sets the stage and we wait to see who and how it rolls over in gameplay. I personally love this game and for all those who care I was playing D&D when it was still rolling dice and in its infancy way back in the 70s (yeah call me old man but so what) it is still a way to blow off steam and for a while live a life of fantasy.
