I've asked this in a couple of places now and haven't gotten a response...has anyone tried to do this yet?

I know that they cannot be expert salvaged and cannot be modified through upgrades...

I understand that they cannot be modified, but this too is only sketchy hearsay. I'd like it confirmed too. ^^

From a logical standpoint, if you can't customize them then they are quite possibly among the worst items in the game. Not so much the staves and such, but the axes, bows, etc... would just be a complete joke.

Would you spend endless hours trying to get that green item just to find out you can't give it an extra 20% damage?

Oh. I may have commented too soon when I saw the "customize" topic. Was wondering if you could "mod" it, not customize it. This may already have been attempted and thus be known to the general community, me excluded lol.

As I expected. Ty. Last to know as is also true in life. ^_~ Then it befuddles me further where all this doom and gloom is coming from if you cant modify green items as your build needs or desires. You still have to find or buy that uber gold and perfect mods unless a green item fits you exactly - and even then you have to go and get it.

There is peace and harmony. Or.. there *should* be.

Did you try to customize it at the weapons dealer, or just modify it with an upgrade?

I do. But you can't customize a focus, so I'm still waiting until I find one that's a weapon. ;P

I assure you that I will customize it 1 second later and post my findings here!

Meh I had the monk staff...but I like using my Henge sword of enchanting + the green protection symbol instead. So...I was faced with the choice of customizing the staff into uselessness or selling it for 60k.

You do the math...

Excellent. I think this is the critical question in determining their value as compared to the rest of the gold/purples out there. I would suspect that they ARE customizable, but since they are not upgradable (unlike collector's items), this gets me wonderin'...

im repeating myself just to make sure everyone gets this right!

You can not salvage green items!!! they give no upgrade parts or materials.

You can not modify green items!!! you can not change their upgrades.

You can customize all green weapons (right hand and two handed) for +20% damage so only one character can use it.

They are basically just collector items with perfect modifications without the ability to change them. Their price and rarity can be compared with collector items prices.

im propably the first one that had the guts to try to salvage one and the pride to cusstomize a complete "set"

edit: modify + customize

No this kinda makes them worse than collector's items if they do not have good mods because you CAN apply item upgrades to collectors items. BUT if you get one that has the mods you want then they are BETTER than collectors items because from what I can tell, they seem to have more "stuff" on them vs a collectors item with 2 item mods. But I may just be imagining that.

They are the equivilent of collectors items with two specific perfect mods.

Have you done this yet? I just want positive confirmation, since everyone seems to be buyng and selling these and not actually using them...

PvP wands vs Green wands;

Weapon Stats

Wand

* Light damage 11-22 (req. 9 Smiting Prayers)
* Improves Casting Speed using Protection Prayers (20%)
* Improves Skill Recharge using Protection Prayers (20%)
PvP wands with skill mods have ONE skill mod. Casting Speed, or Recharge. Not both. With this, people can get 40% improved skill recharge (~36%), AND casting speed, instead of 40% on one and 20% on the other.

All-in-all, not a huge deal.

The +10%/+10% all skill/casting time boosts look awesome though.

I do hate giving up my staff of enchanting, however, and the staves are perfectly balanced in stats and mods compared to PvP and other PvE ones.

Edit;
And seeing as the collector's items tend to be the same as what you get from the PvP chars, the collector's smiting wand probably only has one skill-related mod as well.
