Like the update but the cost of skills...

It'll take a week or so for the economy to adjust to the new situation.

In the mean time i'll be selling gold items lilke crazy until people realize they aren't worth as much as they used to be.

I just bought the skills I need at the moment and I always came back later. 1 plat is way too much IMO for the basic stuff. Makes me angry that I didn't stay up all night and all day buying skills when I had the chance.
And for those who will come here and see a negative aspect to the update from what I see and tag this a ''WHINER'' thread, you're not wanted here if all you're posting is,"HEY HEY HULLO WHY R U PLAYING DELETE THE GAME ANET IS AMZING." Constructive posts only, I really need explaining. |

skills are cheaper now, because of that 1p cap. before they were going insanly high, now everyone can afford them.

I know on my ascended Warrior -- the skill cost jumped from about 400gp to 1 platinum oO
With that said, the change doesn't actually affect me too much -- but then I like to play a bit of both game types...
I tend to unlock the majority of my cross-class skills using Faction -- since it generates extremely quickly now -- 6000 Faction ( 6 Skill Unlocks ) doesn't take a great deal of time at all -- even at the lowest levels of PvP
The only things I might use Skill Points for are Elite Skills -- since it's 3000 Faction for an Elite...
As for the PvE side
Shouldn't your characters be specialists..?? You shouldn't really need to unlock every skill for every class or even all skills in a certain line -- at most you might unlock 2 classes if you like to change secondary profession.
Why would you want to unlock all the classes if you don't wish to play PvP..?? For example, I can't think of a reason why'd I'd want to take my PvE warrior and unlock the Ranger class -- since Warrior and Ranger don't tend to mix...
Finally, as far as I can remember skill missions are offered all the way into the desert...

they warned every1. All u had to do was look on www.guildwars.com to see that u should buy skills now and not later. So its basicly ur fault if u have to pay 1 plat now for it. nothing they can do now for u

I am interested in PvP; later on; Iv recently gotton all Ele and Monk aquired now the rest of my fun class's; I enjoy being Mo/R and Mo/N I think ill get all the traps next for ranger... and i have the 175,000 gold put aside for purchasing all the skills. and my favorite skill trainer in Ember Light Camp.

i read the first page and skimmed through the second, and i think people missed a crucial reason for the cost.
there is always a new "amazing" lets all do this build, and then everyone changes and does that. then the next week, theres a different one, and the cycle continues. this was only do able because people could easily buy any new skills they needed. now, its harder to completly change your skill and play style, and people will have to find ways to do well with a smaller array of skills to choose from.

With the faction increase and the cap of the skill prices - how can you not afford new skills?
In the short term skills are more expensive, that is right, But people seem to overlook the longterm effect: if you have only 1 or 2 PvE chars, the 1k cap will make buying skills much cheaper for you.
Sure, the next 10 or so skills are more expensive, but in the end you will have saved money.
And with the faction increase you can unlock a hell lot of skills. And money is easier farmed than skill points. So all in all, skills are much easier to get now. You guys just focus on the wrong things.

It's only 1 plat if you used 20 skill points. I used three so far and my cost is 150 gold for the next one.
I rely on quests for most of my skills.

Van the Warrior
i actually like this change its cheaper to buy skills now than it was for me for 2 months straight lol.......the price per skill on my warrior was between 1050 and 1250 gold per skill lol
entropy
all my 3 rpg chars just had their skill priced doubled

Well here's a fairly decent reason why they implimented this system atleast IMO.
Your standing ready, you run out into your first arena PVP match, ready to rumble against other players, people who are of the same level, and....oh no wait, some guy with his thrid or fourth character got rushed to Droknars, bought mega armor, and all the all the decent skills with the skill points he has racked up in pre searing and the first few quests.
Atleast this way, people with spaztastic amounts of money, cant whiz though without atleast being annoyed by having to spend a few thousand to let them go and "pwn" *cringes at the use of that word*
To me its nothing more then satisfying to hear people whining about having to DIP into the 200k how a few skills. I havent got oodles of cash, infact about 5k if that, and while its frustrating thinking "oh man i gotta do this again!" but hey it atleast some body new to GW isnt getting his a*** whooped by a level 1 thinking "how is this happening?"
Personally i think the whole update brought alittle more equallity to the GW world. Ok so i still see people selling "Uber Godly max deathbow of masters" or some other rubbish, to someone too impatient to get to that collector latter on. But Keys and new chests make everyone feel like they got something good. and everyone can afford to have a key.
Oops back to skills, so basically i think that yes they may be more expensive, but it has really leveled out the playing field in terms of people joining the game, either as a new char and still having enjoyment or as a first timer and having as much of a chance as everyone else.
